Infrastructure and Design Manager Needed

The Infrastructure and Design Manager will play a vital role in the growth of the Classroom Africa program. The position will work closely with the Vice President of Management Systems and Program Manager to ensure that new sites have campus designs and concepts that adhere to the fundamental principles of Classroom Africa. This position also involves the overseeing of long-term maintenance and care of Classroom Africa-supported infrastructure.

*Qualifications*

Bachelor’s degree in construction management, architecture, engineering or related relevant degree required; advanced degree in related field preferred.
At least four years’ working experience, including prior experience in construction and/or construction management (cost control measures, timeline management and quality assurance), or other relevant experience.

At least four years’ experience working with contractors and development of Bills of Quantities.

Deep interest in primary school education and the educational link to environmental issues/awareness.

Commitment to conservation in Africa; previous exposure to conservation preferred.

Previous experience in sustainable design, construction, or construction management on the African continent required; experiences in rural African contexts strongly preferred.

Excellent English oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, flexibility, and cultural sensitivity. Knowledge of French and/or local languages strongly preferred.

Ability to supervise staff.
Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
Willingness to travel throughout Africa, often to remote areas.
