Girls Who Code is seeking a Research and Evaluation Intern to support our Research Team’s data collection, analysis, and reporting efforts in summer 2018. Over a period of 12 weeks the intern will assist the Research Team in collecting and analyzing survey data from our two summer programs and developing data visualizations and reports for our summer and school-year programs. The intern will play a key role in supporting Girls Who Code in the timely and efficient dissemination of results to external partners and audiences, as well as ensuring these results are available to staff across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Data Analyst in the day-to-day tasks associated with overseeing several concurrent online survey administrations, including monitoring data collection, analyzing data to identify inconsistencies and cleanliness issues, cleaning and restructuring data, and conducting targeted follow-up communications to non-responding programs according to a predetermined cadance.
  • Support the Research Team in the design and development of dashboards based on stakeholder requirements to display results and track programmatic metrics of success.
  • Support the Research and Partner Engagement Teams in the design and development of partner reports intended to disseminate programmatic highlights to our corporate and community partners.

Qualifications

  • Experience with an online survey tool (e.g., SurveyGizmo, Survey Monkey)
  • Demonstrated strong Microsoft Excel skills and knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Domo) and relational database tools (e.g, Salesforce)
  • Comfortable navigating different data sources and converting raw data into meaningful and actionable insights
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Effective time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects at once
  • Flexibility and ability to work in a diverse and dynamic environment with changing requirements
  • Authentic passion for Girls Who Code’s mission to close the gender gap in technology fields through a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Knowledge of and/or interest in computer science, technology, and/or education preferred
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, maturity, positivity, and confidence
  • Pursuing a bachelors or masters degree, preferably in one of the following fields (or a related field): Business/Management, Math, Finance, Economics, or Psychology
