
ENTREPRENEURSHIP OFFICER (READVERTISEMENT)
AAH Kenya is part of the Support for Protection and Assistance for Refugees in Kenya (SPARK) Consortium in Turkana County, Kenya. SPARK Livelihoods is a DFID-funded project implemented by Norwegian Refugee Council (the lead agency), Film Aid International, Danish Refugee Council, Handicap International and Action Africa help International (AAH-I) in Kenya.
We are looking Entrepreneurship Officer who will be seconded to the Norwegian Refugee Council based in Kakuma.
Purpose of the role: The Entrepreneurship Officer will support entrepreneurs, targeted vendors, groups involved in livelihood and organizations within the SPARK Livelihoods consortium to access markets through managing an online marketing platform. The entrepreneurship Officer will achieve this through running day to day operational functions of mobilizing the above mentioned targeted persons/stakeholders and coordinating all entrepreneurship activities for SPARK. The Entrepreneurship officer will be under the supervision of the Field Coordinator for the SPARK Livelihoods Consortium with a dotted reporting line to the Project Manager for AAH-I.
Personal Specifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business related studies with specialization in either Entrepreneurship, Marketing or Information Technology.
- At least 3 years’ experience in working with youth programmes including microfinance institutions; NGO’s experience in a similar environment will be an added advantage.
- Excellent report writing skills
- Solid foundations in entrepreneurship and marketing
- Qualification in project planning and management will be an added advantage

NATURAL RESOURCES OFFICER, UGANDA
Purpose of the role: To support sustainable utilization of natural resources, shared environment and promote safe access to energy (fuel). The incumbent will build resilience of the target communities’ in disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation and ecosystem management. S/he will proactively promote appropriate smart climate (green) technologies and approaches in collaboration with private sector and development actors and determine how best to incorporate these approaches into AAH Uganda operations.
Expected Outcomes
- Woodlots established and maintained in the host community and refugee settlement
- Restoration of the depleted forest cover promoted through household levels tree-planting.
- Technical assistance provided to refugees and host communities in energy saving solutions
- Research papers and success stories on energy and environment developed and disseminated
- Coordination, monitoring and evaluation systems on natural resource management established.
- Environment and Natural resource management good practices and lessons documented
- Timely and accurate Donor reports are prepared.
Professional qualifications
- Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Natural Resources, Environmental Sciences, Forestry, agroforestry or other related fields from recognized University or Institution.
- Demonstrated knowledge of community participatory approaches and disaster risk reduction.
- Demonstrated knowledge of supporting a comprehensive approach to biodiversity, safe access to energy and/or climate change.
- Knowledge of the concepts, principles, techniques and practices of energy, environment and/or climate change.

HIV COUNSELLOR, UGANDA
Purpose of the role: To co-ordinate and provide counselling service in coordination with the medical staff.

FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION MANAGER, UGANDA
Purpose of the role: To ensure all financial processes are functioning effectively and efficiently, monitor financial results to detect risks and address them. H/She will plan, execute and evaluate all activities of financial management of AAH Uganda Country Programme. The holder will be responsible for creating, reviewing, updating and enforcing compliance of the Programme’s financial policies and procedures.
Expected Outcomes
- Projects and country programme is well informed and supported on budgeting.
- Financial expenditure is in compliance with Donor contract requirements. A draft annual Country programme budget is prepared 3 months before the year of operation and submitted to HQ.
- Quarterly country programme financial report is delivered to HQ by the 30th of the following month.
- Adequate financial systems and controls are implemented and maintained to ensure Debtors; Creditors and Cash balances are reduced.
- Timely and accurate Donor reports are prepared.
- Timely planning for Donor and institutional audits
Professional qualifications
- A Bachelor’s (honors) degree in Commerce, Accounting or Finance with
- A Master’s degree in Financial Management, Accounting, Economics or a related field from a recognized institution.
- A professional qualification in Finance or Accounting (Membership of ACCA, CPA)
- Good computer applications knowledge in respect to accounting, budgeting and cash control. As a minimum, this would include an understanding of MS Office and Excel coupled with a strong understanding of Finance and accounting software and knowledge of Pastel, Navision.
