Overall Objectives of the position
Reporting to the Program Coordinator, the Programs Officer will support the implementation of community development projects in EDCA

Requirements:
•A Degree in Social Sciences, community development, health and nutrition or any other related field.
•Skills in Health & Nutrition for IYC(infant and Young children), Dietetics and Paediatrics Nutrition will be an added advantage
•Fluency in oral and written English and Kiswahili.
•Proficiency in using Microsoft Office computer applications.
•Strong communication and presentation skills.
•Committed team player who is result oriented.
•Some background in handling child protection cases
Willing and ability to work in rural areas under minimal supervision and have passion for working with children & community.
•Demonstrated leadership skills gained from working in community-based organizations or relevant sectors for at least 2 years.
Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.

Internship Programme – Nairobi Office .The Life & Peace Institute (LPI)

Purpose of the Internship Programme
For LPI to provide the opportunity of practical work experience for students or new graduates.
For the intern to contribute to the work of LPI’s peacebuilding programmes in Kenya and Somalia.

2.  Tasks and Responsibilities
Interns will be actively involved in the work of the Institute. Depending on areas of expertise and interest, combined with current needs of the Nairobi office, upon commencement of the internship a list of specific tasks and focus of the internship will be outlined.

3. Who can apply?
The applicants should be holders of a Bachelor or Masters degree in fields such as peace and conflict studies, political science, international studies, communications, finance and business administration studies. Applicants should have strong English written and oral skills as well as other relevant languages such as Swahili, Arabic and Somali.

4. Procedure for Application

5. Duration and Terms of Internship
The internship will be offered for a minimum of six months, with extension possible upon mutual agreement. The internship offer is subject to the existing Kenyan Labour Act and the Institute’s rules and regulations.

6. Remuneration
This is an unpaid position, however LPI will provide a monthly stipend to cover the cost of transport and lunch expenses.

7. Insurance
LPI does not provide health insurance coverage therefore interns are responsible for their health insurance for the internship period.

8. Duty Station
Interns will be based in LPI’s Nairobi office.

Project Manager – Ananda Marga Universal Relief Team (AMURT)

Reporting to AMURT Programs Manager, AJIRI DADA Project Manager will:

•    Provide overall supervision and leadership for program implementation.
•    Oversees day to day running of the technical components of the project.
•    Responsible for implementing key project activities of selection, recruitment, training and placement of the AGYW to the project.
•    Provide guidance to project team in development, compliance and implementation of detailed technical work plans.
•    Responsible for project documentation including success stories, lessons learnt and technical report writing as per donor requirements.
•    Oversees proper site record keeping.
•    Ensures the establishment of project quality improvement measures and processes.
•    Spearheads the development of project training curriculum and reviews.
•    Coordinate all project trainings by assigned contractors and ensures all trainings are completed as scheduled.
•    Ensures organizational policies and procedures are adhered to within project implementation.
•    Responsible for sensitizing and encouraging the beneficiaries to embrace the project model of savings and investments.
•    Organize and chair project team meetings on a weekly basis or as and when required
•    Carry out any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications
•    Bachelor’s degree in medical or social sciences (community dev, sociology, social work) with 7 years of experience in project management or
•    Master’s degree in health, project management or social science with at least 4 years’ project work experience.
•    Knowledge and experience in working with vulnerable girls and young women especially in informal settlements will be an added advantage.
•    Strong writing, lobbying, fundraising, and communication skills.
•    Evidence of previously compiling quality donor project reports, case studies and success stories.
•    High level of integrity, values, ethics and competence.
•    Demonstrate high level of creativity, innovation and analytical thinking.
•    Ability to network, collaborate and advocate with partners.
