JOB ADVERTISEMENT St. John’s Community Centre is a faith based organization of the Anglican Church of Kenya Nairobi Diocese. We are implementing a number of Child focused OVC and HIV prevention programs in Nairobi, Central and Western Kenya. We therefore wish to recruit suitable professionals to the following positions:
1. OVC PROGRAMME COORDINATOR
Key Responsibilities
Project Lead and Manager of project staff
Management of Project Planning implementation, monitoring, evaluation and reporting.
Community Mobilization for project ownership and participation
Budget management
Project resource mobilization
Liaison with partners and stakeholders
Support the implementation of county-level action plans
Support coordination and training of service providers to improve linkages to services
Advocate for increased OVC access to Safety-net programs
Ensure delivery of the project objectives, outcomes and outputs within the stipulated time frame.
Custodian of project data
Qualifications Required
Kenyan citizen with a strong drive to serve children.
First degree in relevant Social Sciences, a master’s degree is an added advantage
At least 5 years’ experience in senior Management of OVC project.
Experience in USAID funded projects procurement, project planning and management skills.
Proficiency in M&E skills
Excellent organization and time management skills
Excellent team leadership skills
Strong oral and written communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills.
Excellent Computer Skills
Proven Experience in resource mobilization
Driving skills an added advantage.

2. OVC ASSISTANT PROJECT OFFICER
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Enrolment and orientation of OVC Households
Recruitment, training and management of Volunteers
Coordinating the Provision of age appropriate services to OVC
Coordinating training of OVC guardians on positive parenting practices.
Advocacy to reduce stigma and discrimination.
Establishing support groups for marginalized households
Promoting HIV testing and counselling of OVC
Establishing referral networks for OVC and their households to access ECCD services, education, health, birth certificates and safety nets
Coordinate provision of psychosocial support to OVC and their households.
Supervise field Officers
Convene stakeholders forums
Document and publish case/success stories.
Assist in Preparation of periodic progress reports
Qualifications Required
Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Community development or Psychology
Certificates in counselling psychology, child development, child protection and HIV management
Computer literate (MS Word, Ms Excel, Ms PowerPoint, Ms Outlook, Internet)
3 years’ experience in undertaking OVC Programs
Experience in designing and delivering community based training
Extensive knowledge of generally accepted professional social and community work principles and practices
Capable of working in a rapidly changing environment with firm deadlines
Strong interpersonal communication and cross cultural skills
High personal integrity and confidentiality
Commitment to quality work and adherence to standards

3. OVC HOUSEHOLD ECONOMIC STRENGTHENING OFFICER
Key Responsibilities
economic empowerment programme development
Assessing the economic status of the OVC households, grouping them and providing them with the appropriate empowerment package.
Training and supervising Household Economic Strengthening mentors
Promote linkages to suitable enabling economic products and services
Target youth out of school groups and support uptake of appropriate economic strengthening initiatives
Promote and support apprenticeships and vocational training for youth.
Convene regular review forums with key stakeholders in household economic strengthening
Monitoring and evaluation of the economic strengthening activities
Qualifications Required
Bachelor’s degree in Business administration and management, Agro business, Economics, community development or equivalent degree
Computer literate (MS Word, Ms Excel, Ms PowerPoint, Ms Outlook, Internet)
3 years’ experience in undertaking economic empowerment work among disadvantaged households
Extensive knowledge of generally accepted professional economic development and community work principles and practices
Personal experience in initiating and running own business or self-help group.

4. MONITORING AND EVALUATION OFFICER
Key Responsibilities:
Establishing, maintaining and ensuring effective utilization of the Project Monitoring and Evaluation System to provide real time information to project management on progress made in attaining project goal, outcome and outputs. This includes developing the M&E plans; managing the program database system; commissioning surveys to ensure project has appropriate baseline and end-line data on the OVC situation; ensure proper data collection, entry and analysis procedures, storage and appropriate use of data to track program performance; Responsible for capacity building and supervising data clerks, community resource persons and project officers for compliance to M&E requirements; setting up a system for quality assurance and Quality improvement that incorporates beneficiaries; managing external M&E consultants; Responsible for documenting and disseminating M & E results, findings and sharing lessons learnt with Staff and relevant stakeholders; recommending project and system improvements based on evidence; supporting the preparation of project reports for submission to Coordinator, Management, partners and stakeholders.
Qualifications required:
Kenyan citizen, aged 25-40 years who has a strong drive to empower the community to address OVC issues
A first degree in social sciences, public health, or other related discipline from a recognised university.
Comprehensive training in M & E and gender
4 years relevant working experience in Monitoring and Evaluation in a USAID funded project, preferably in integrated OVC Programming
Demonstrated skills in M&E frameworks, systems development and development of data collection tools
Experience in conducting trainings in M&E development.
Computer proficiency in word processing, databases, spreadsheets, including advanced skills in at least two of the following programs: SPSS, Excel, Epi Info, Stata, SQL and Ms Access or any other relevant to OVC Programming
Skills in research statistics, critical and analytical thinking, Good judgment and problem solving skills are critical.
Field experience in data collection, analysis & quality assurance.
Good understanding of OVC issues particularly HIV/AIDS, children and youth development and health, education and training, life-skills and household economic strengthening.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
Fluency in both written and oral English and Kiswahili.

5. OVC FIELD OFFICERS ( SOCIAL WORKERS)
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Effective case management and ensuring all clients and their care givers access appropriate services. Key tasks to be done include enrolment and orientation of OVC Households; Recruitment, training and management of Volunteers ; Coordinating home and school visits for monitoring OVC; Providing OVC with age appropriate services; Training OVC guardians on positive parenting practices; Advocacy to reduce stigma and discrimination; Establishing support groups for marginalized households; Promoting HIV testing of OVC and linking them to treatment and care services as appropriate; Referral and support for OVC and their households to access ECCD services, education, health, birth certificates and other safety nets; Provide psychosocial support to OVC and their households; maintaining updated client files; Document case/success stories; Project fund management; Preparation of periodic progress reports. 6. PROJECT ACCOUNTANT
Key Responsibilities
Management of project funds whose tasks include maintenance of Project cash book & ledger as per donor guidelines; Preparation of project budget; Preparation of monthly project financial reports; Procurement of project supplies as per organizational guidelines; Cash flow management; Preparation of monthly bank reconciliation statements; Project audit coordination and

management; Training project staff on sound financial management and policies; Supervising project support staff. Qualifications Required
Kenyan citizen aged 25 – 35 years
Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting / commerce or in any of business related field accounting/ finance option.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA K) or its equivalent
Qualification in relevant financial software application (Quick books, Pastel, Sage). Qualifications and experience in Navision financials will have added advantage.
Minimum 3 years relevant work experience preferably in an NGO
Experience in USAID funded project will be an added advantage
7. PROJECT MANAGER FOR ELIMINATION OF MOTHER TO CHILD HIV TRANSMISSION PROJECT
Key responsibilities: Project Lead and Manager of project staff who is responsible for Project Cycle management which includes Need assessment, intervention design, planning, implementation, Monitoring and evaluation of the project. Other related tasks will include mobilizing target communities for effective participation and project ownership; recruiting , training and managing project Staff and Mentor mothers; Establishing relations and working system with health centers that host the project; Mobilize communities to increase demand for PMTCT services ; Increase the involvement of male partners in PMTCT; Establishing working relations with pertinent service providers to complement service delivery; convening stake holder forums; Resource mobilization and management of project resources; Preparation of progress reports and managing project documentation Qualifications required
Kenyan citizen aged 25-40 years
University degree Registered Nurse, Community Health, Community Development or related social sciences.
It will be an added advantage if the person has done courses in Project management, project Monitoring and evaluation, HIV management has Knowledge of programming on PMTCT, Pediatric HIV and AIDS and adolescent sexual and reproductive health issues and is computer literate.
Has 3 years working experience in managing a Community Health integrated program in Maternal and child health or prevention of Mother to Child HIV transmission (PMTCT)
Has excellent planning, community mobilization, organizational, proposal writing and project monitoring and evaluation skills.
Fluency in both written and oral English and Kiswahili.

8. ASSISTANT PROGRAM OFFICER FOR ELIMINATION OF MOTHER TO CHILD HIV TRANSMISSION PROJECT.
Key Responsibilities Ensuring HIV positive expectant and breastfeeding mothers access comprehensive PMTCT services through supervising community based or Health Facility based mentor mothers. The position holder will also enroll HIV positive expectant and breastfeeding mothers and their spouses; Assist program officer in training Community Health workers and Mentor mothers; Facilitate psychosocial support group meetings; Disseminate appropriate health information ; Monitor adherence to eMTCT of the clients; manage PMTCT defaulters to ensure they are restored to care; update and maintain confidential client records; Prepare activity reports for submission to the program officer; effect and monitor client referrals to ensure they are effective. Qualifications required
Degree or Diploma in Community health, a Qualified Registered Nurse, Community Development or in a related social science.
Certificate or diploma courses in HIV/AIDS management or counseling or has a certificate in HIV Counseling and Testing
3 years’ experience in an integrated community based health program with a focus on PMTCT.
Knowledge, skills and positive attitude to provide community health services to HIV Mothers and their significant others, from informal settlements
Counselling skills to support health behavior change;
Fluency in both written and oral English and Kiswahili
9. Project Administrator
Key Responsibilities: Making Administration/Logistics plans in collaboration with project team; Managing procurement of services, stationary and project equipment and organizing maintenance of the equipment; Handling logistics to ensure goods and services are supplied promptly to project sites; Arranging for project meetings and functions; devising and managing a filing system and storing project documents, IEC materials and computer based information; Archiving project documents; Supervising project support staff and responding to client enquiries. Requirements of the Applicants
Have a Diploma or Degree in Office Administration, Business administration or equivalent course
Has experience of working in a busy donor funded development project in a similar position

Has experience in setting up and maintaining a filing system, archiving program documents, managing events or training workshops, procurement and staff supervision.
Has a certificate in community development or OVC care management.
Has excellent oral and written English, excellent customer care qualities and excellent organizational and presentation skills
Competent in managing information using a variety of software package such as MS Word, Outlook, Power point, Excel, Access and SPSS
10. DATA officer
Key Responsibilities: The position holder ensures all program data is entered into a computer based data base accurately in readiness for analysis. Tasks for the position include data collection, cleaning, verification, entry and data storage in a secure and logical filing system.
Qualifications required
– A Kenyan citizen aged 23-30 years
– Has a strong drive for quality work.
– Holds a Diploma or degree in Computer science, data management , Database management or research methods
– A Social worker with proficiency in Microsoft Office packages will have added advantage
– If you only have certificates in Microsoft office packages you must have work experience in data collection and data entry for a minimum of 1 year
– Proven speed in data entry
– Experience in data collection, data entry, participatory assessment and social work,
– Good contextual knowledge of local issues in relation to HIV and AIDS and young women
– Fluency in both written and oral English and Kiswahili
