About the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Kenya

We are the key player of German foreign business development on behalf of the Federal Republic of
Germany in East Africa. We represent German business interests in East Africa, inform about, and
promote Germany as a business location. Our mandate is to promote bilateral business relations
through advocacy and engagement with state institutions and government bodies.

For that, we offer a broad range of services such as market entry facilitation, analysis and research and also organize delegations, conferences and events. The Delegation supports German companies in finding a market in Kenya and East Africa and vice versa and establishes business contacts with potential customers for their products.

Established in 2012, we are now a team of 20 and cover East Africa from Nairobi.

We are looking for an energetic and creative thinking individual with good communication skills, a warm personality and an independent working attitude, to join the team as an Intern and work as a Project Assistant for the Vocational Training Team.

About the Role

The Vocational Training team works to support the development of dual vocational training courses in Kenya, runs a multi-stakeholder working group on the topic of Vocational Training, Organizes events, conferences and skills shows within the field of Vocational Training, as well as develops TVET consulting programs. The Intern will be a point of support for the team and assist in networking, consulting and marketing activities.

Your responsibilities will include:

1. Networking and Consulting Support

  • Support in writing of meeting and conference reports and minutes
  • Support in creating and maintaining the TVET contact database
  • Support in research and fact finding projects in the TVET Department
  • Assist in conducting follow-ups with organizations and partners in regards to TVET projects
  • Support in AHK projects from time to time as and when required.

2. Marketing and Event Management Support

  • Support in the preparation and implementation of TVET events and conferences organized by
    AHK.
  • Supporting the general organization and day-to-day business operations, including providing
    advice and information to incoming requests from German/ East African companies.

Who we are looking for

  • You have completed your undergraduate studies in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Social Sciences, Education.
  • You have excellent knowledge in using MS Office products. Additional software knowledge will
    be an added advantage.
  • You have some prior practical experiences (Internships, volunteer roles, special programs)
  • You are able to work independently and with minimal supervision
  • You have good communication skills, both written and oral.
  •  You are thorough and accurate when discharging your duties.

Other information

  •  The role is full-time and based in our Nairobi office.
  • The ideal start date is within the month of November.
