Internship Opportunities At Nakuru Water And Sanitation Services Company (NAWASSCO)

Nakuru Water and Sanitation Services Company Ltd (NAWASSCO) is a Company established under the Companies Act (Cap 486, Laws of Kenya) and is wholly owned by the County Government of Nakuru. The objectives of the Company are broadly and extensively formulated in the Memorandum and Articles of Association and cover a wide range of activities directly related to or associated with the provision of water and sanitation services within Nakuru East and Nakuru West Sub counties and its environs. The purpose of the Program is to provide an opportunity for university and college students to become familiar with the operations of NAWASSCO, and to acquire work experience at the professional level through on-the-job training.

During the internship, students shall be placed in one of the departments of NAWASSCO and, to the extent possible, shall be given assignments relevant to their qualifications.

Before the end of the program, the interns must submit a brief report about their experience/learning in NAWASSCO and provide ideas and suggestions that can help improve the Program in future years.

NAWASSCO does not provide medical insurance cover for Interns. Those selected for internship will be required to submit proof of medical insurance while at NAWASSCO.


NAWASSCO/INTERN/1/01/2019 – RECEPTIONIST/OFFICE ASSISTANT (1 POSITION)

Minimum requirements:
  • Diploma in Front Office Operations or Business Administration from a recognized institution
  • Proficient in Microsoft office, excellent communication skills, team player, ability to multi task and work well under pressure and capable of working under minimum supervision

NAWASSCO/ INTERN/2/01/2019 – PLUMBERS ( 8 POSITIONS)

Minimum requirements:
  • Craft Certificate in Plumbing from a recognized Institution

NAWASSCO/ INTERN/3/01/2019– CUSTOMER CARE ASSISTANTS (2 POSITIONS)

Minimum requirements:
  • Diploma in Public Relations or Business Management from a recognized Institution
  • Proficient in Microsoft office, excellent communication skills, team player, ability to multi task and work well under pressure and capable of working under minimum supervision

NAWASSCO/ INTERN/4/01/2019 – BILLING ASSISTANT (1 POSITION)

Minimum requirements:

  • Diploma in Business related field from a recognized Institution
  • Proficient in Microsoft office, excellent communication skills, team player, ability to multi task and work well under pressure and capable of working under minimum supervision

NAWASSCO/ INTERN/5/01/2019– PROCUREMENT ASSISTANT (1 POSITION)

Minimum requirements:
  • Diploma in Purchasing and supplies management from a recognized Institution
  • Proficient in Microsoft office, excellent communication skills, team player, ability to multi task and work well under pressure and capable of working under minimum supervision

NAWASSCO/ INTERN/6/01/2019– ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT (1 POSITION)

Minimum requirements:
  • Business Related Degree (Accounting Option) from a recognized Institution
  • Proficient in Microsoft office, excellent communication skills, team player, ability to multi task and work well under pressure and capable of working under minimum supervision

ELIGIBILITY AND DURATION

The internship program is open to unemployed Kenyan graduates from training institutions who have completed their Degree/Diploma/Certificate courses in not more than three years and have not been exposed to work experience related to their area of study. The persons eligible for this program shall:

  1. Be unemployed Kenyan graduates from recognized training institutions who have completed their certificate, diploma and degree courses and have not been exposed to work experience related to their area of study;
  2. Not have benefited from a similar program.
  3. Be a Kenyan youth above 18 years and below 35 years

The internship shall be for a period of Twelve (12) months and will not be renewable. Successful candidates shall be entitled to a monthly stipend allowance payable at the following rates:

i. Degree Holder – Ksh.10,000
ii. Diploma Holder – Ksh. 8,500
iii. Certificate Holder – Ksh. 6,500

7. Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations
8. Clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC);
