Nyayo Tea Zones Development Corporation (NTZDC) is a State Corporation in the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Irrigation, whose overall mandate is the promotion of forest conservation through the creation of buffer zones of tea along the gazetted forests to check against human encroachment.

The Corporation’s operations are spread over nineteen (19) zones and two factories across Kenya, in the East and West of Rift Valley. The Corporation’s major activities are in tea growing, tea factory operations and local sales distribution of value added teas.

Detailed description and application procedure 

Nyayo Tea Zones Development Corporation is a state Corporation specializing in tea production and forestry conservation.  We urgently seek to recruit dynamic individuals to fill the following positions:

 

  1. 1. HEAD OF PROCUREMENT & SUPPLY CHAIN        

Overall Responsibility:

The overall responsibility of this position is to manage and coordinate the Procurement & Supply Chain function. To ensure effective delivery of goods & services, and work in accordance with the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act, 2015.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. 1. Provide leadership on the development and implementation of supply chain business policies and procedures in liaison with the corporation Board and other relevant committees.
  2. 2. Formulating supply policy management to ensure that the corporation’s supplies goals and objectives are met.
  3. 3. Reviewing the provision, procurement, stock-holding and stock control policies on a progressive basis
  4. 4. Ensuring that supplies accounting and other stores procedures are followed and updated as necessary.
  5. 5. Ensure timely and effective procurement of goods, services and works.
  6. 6. Ensuring maintenance of updated suppliers list.
  7. 7. Initiate and innovate strategies such as consignment stocking framework, and strategic contracts geared towards the creation of value for money.
  8. 8. Procuring various materials and other supplies for the corporation at the most competitive prices in accordance with approved corporation procedures.
  9. 9. Coordinating overseas purchases of materials, spares and farms inputs as per approved policies and procedures.
  10. 10. Supervising, appraising staff and identifying their development and training needs.
  11. 11. Liaising with departments in organizing for specification of goods and services for procurement.
  12. 12. Organizing and managing of procurement through relevant committees.
  13. 13. Preparing budget and ensuring effective control.
  14. 14. Ensuring compliance to corporation code of ethics.
  15. 15. Overseeing the effective storage and issuance of procured goods.
  16. 16. Carry out market surveys and research
  17. 17. Overseeing disposal of obsolete stocks or goods in liaison with relevant offices
  18. 18. Observing and complying with environmental, health and safety measures and regulations
  19. 19. Performing any other duty as may be assigned from time to time

Qualifications:       –         

  • 1. Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management/Contract Management/Logistics or equivalent
  • 2. Masters degree is an added advantage
  • 3. Proficiency in computer applications
  • 4. Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results
  • 5. Minimum of 10 years hands-on experience 5 of which must be in a managerial position.
  • 6. Member of a relevant professional body.

  1. 2. SALES MANAGER

Overall Responsibility:

The overall responsibility of this position is to achieve exceptional growth and market positioning of the Corporation while ensuring positive returns on assets, as well as implementing sales plans.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. 1. Achieving annual sales targets by implementing sales plan, marketing strategies; analysing trends and results.
  2. 2. Establish sales objectives by forecasting and developing annual sales quotas for regions and territories; projecting expected sales volume and profits for existing and new products.
  3. 3. Implement corporate sales programs by developing field sales action plans.
  4. 4. Maintains sales volume, product mix and selling price by keeping current with supply and demand, changing trends, economic indicators and competitors.
  5. 5. Establishes and adjusts selling prices by monitoring costs, competition, supply and demand.
  6. 6. Complete corporate sales operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees and following up on work results.
  7. 7. Participate in recruitment, selection, orientation and training of sales staff.
  8. 8. Contribute to team effort by building a strong result driven sales team and accomplishing related results as needed.
  9. 9. Ensure delivery and achievement of volume, value and profitability targets
  10. 10. Ensuring brand availability, visibility and activation in the market.
  11. 11. Monitoring and managing customer complaints and overseeing complaint handling and feedback

Qualifications:

  • 1. Bachelor’s Degree in Sales, Marketing or related field.
  • 2. Diploma in Sales & Marketing

  1. 3. OUTGROWERS MANAGER

Overall Responsibility:

To efficiently and effectively manage the outgrowers programme for strategic high-quality green leaf delivery to the Factory.

Key Tasks:

  • 1. Manage the outgrowers scheme
  • 2. Recruit farmers as company outgrowers
  • 3. Offer agricultural extension services to the farmers.
  • 4. Maintain a farmer’s database as per legal requirements.
  • 5. Ensure delivery of high-quality tea from registered farmers.
  • 6. Liaison between the factory management and farmers to ensure effective communication.
  • 7. Monitoring and maintenance of greenleaf standards, levels and targets
  • 8. Continuous monitoring and review of the green leaf production levels and targets.
  • 9. Ensure proper maintenance and management of greenleaf records and information
  • 10. Preparation, timely production and distribution of required reports.

Qualifications & Competencies

  • 1. Must be a holder of bachelor’s degree in Agriculture/ Horticulture/ Farm Management or related fields.
  • 2. Must be a holder of Certificate or Diploma in Management
  • 3. Proficiency in computer applications
  • 4. Must have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • 5. Strong people management skills and the ability to develop and manage key external relationships

 

  1. 4. SALES REPRESENTATIVE

Overall Responsibility:

Managing and developing business, servicing and ensuring customer requirements are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. 1. Achieve and exceed monthly and annual sales targets as agreed with supervisor.
  2. 2. Promote, seek and secure sales orders for company products and participate in all sales and marketing events within the allocated territory.
  3. 3. To keep distributors aligned to the agreed plans and ensure availability at all outlets within the allocated sales territory.
  4. 4. Monitor sales of distributors, stockists and key accounts on a regular basis and report accordingly.
  5. 5. Collect and account for all sales proceeds accordingly.
  6. 6. Listing and ensuring company products achieve desired visibility at traditional retail and key accounts trade.
  7. 7. Prepare and maintain a record on sales activities and other related market activities including those on competition and advice management accordingly.
  8. 8. Train and supervise sales promoters carrying out special promotion events and ensure effective execution of their tasks.
  9. 9. Carry out market intelligence to establish competition and presence of counterfeit or fake products.
  10. 10. Participate in execution and implementation of trade and consumer activities as rolled out.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • 1. Must be a holder of a diploma in sales and marketing from a recognized Institution. A degree in the same field is an added advantage.
  • 2. Proficiency in computer applications
  • 3. Must have a clean driving license and able to travel extensively.
  • 4. Should possess excellent sales and negotiation skills as well as ability to reach a consultative and solution-based sell.
  • 5. Should be passionate in meeting the customer satisfaction.
  • 6. Must have a minimum 2 years’ experience in sales, preferably in FMCG

 

  1. 5. SENIOR FACTORY ELECTRICIAN

Overall Responsibility:

Responsible for all electrical operations of the factory and ensuring safety of the electrical machinery and equipment.

Key Tasks:

  • 1. To ensure proper maintenance of all electrical machinery and equipment for effective factory operations.
  • 2. Adhere to and Implement policies and strategies on machinery and equipment
  • 3. Develop Maintenance and servicing schedules for all electrical machinery and equipment
  • 4. Maintenance and servicing of standby generators
  • 5. Motor rewinding and maintenance;
  • 6. Ensure timely Inspection, testing, repair, maintenance and service
  • 7. Plan for replacement and procurement of all required electrical machinery and equipment
  • 8. Proper record keeping of all factory electrical machinery, equipment
  • 9. Supervising electrical maintenance staff in the factory;
  • 10. Maintenance of fuel oil burners and other boiler accessories;
  • 11. Diagnosing electrical faults and ensuring timely attendance to the same;
  • 12. Requisitioning and verification of quality electrical spares and accessories;
  • 13. Observing and complying with environmental, health and safety measures and regulations.
  • 14. Provide guidelines and basic training on proper use and maintenance of electrical equipment and machinery
  • 15. Ensure provision of Safe working conditions within the factory and eliminate hazards and risks.
  • 16. Prepare and avail information and reports on all activities

Qualifications and Competencies

  • 1. Must be a holder of a minimum qualification KCSE C plain and above
  • 2. Must have a Higher National Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technician III certificate or equivalent
  • 3. Must have at least 7 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment

 

  1. 6. ICT SUPPORT HELP DESK OFFICERS

Overall Responsibility:

  • 1. Installation and configuration of servers, end user computers, peripheral equipment and software within established standards and guidelines.
  • 2. Ensuring uptime and availability ICT systems.
  • 3. Trouble-shooting and issue resolution of technical problems with network equipment and operating systems.
  • 4. Preventive maintenance on hardware equipment and update of software
  • 5. Update and keep record of incident logs and escalation to the relevant ICT staff
  • 6. Safety of accountable documents/ equipment
  • 7. Ensuring timely availability of information
  • 8. Customer satisfaction

Key Tasks:

  1. 1. Capture and update of ICT asset register
  2. 2. Daily capture of issues raised and resolution procedure
  3. 3. Preparing information as per approved procedures
  4. 4. Generating accurate, complete and timely reports as and when required.
  5. 5. Performing any other duty as may be assigned from time to time

Qualifications & Competencies

  • 1. Must be a holder of a minimum qualification of KCSE C(plain)
  • 2. Must have a Diploma in Information Technology from a recognized institution.
  • 3. Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics Office 365, Windows Server 2012, 2016 and Windows 8 and 10
  • 4. Must have a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.

 

  1. 7. DRIVERS

Overall Responsibilities:

  1. 1. Driving vehicles safely and as authorized.
  2. 2. Carrying out routine checks on cooling oil, electrical and brake system and ty re pressure
  3. 3. Detecting and reporting vehicle defects on time.
  4. 4. Ensuring proper entries in work tickets.
  5. 5. Ensuring security and safety of the vehicle on and off the road, passengers and goods therein.
  6. 6. Ensuring routine service and maintenance of vehicle.
  7. 7. Timely reporting of accidents and follow up of police abstract
  8. 8. Ensure timely vehicle inspection and keeping up to date on insurance/ license
  9. 9. Providing transport/ logistical services.
  10. 10. Ensuring vehicle cleanliness.
  11. 11.Performing any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Skills and Attributes

  • 1. Must be a holder of a KCSE certificate.
  • 2. Must possess a valid driving license (classes B, C, E, D).
  • 3. Must have a minimum of 4 years relevant experience.
