QUANTITATIVE FIELD INTERVIEWERS FOR THE KENYA ABORTION STUDY (KAS)

Deadline:  January 28, 2023

The APHRC invites applications for Quantitative Field Interviewers in a study that aims to estimate the incidence of abortion, understand the circumstances women seek an abortion, the methods they use, and the complications that result from induced abortion, and measure the capacity of the health system to provide post-abortion care in Kenya. The survey will be done in the following regions:

  • Coast and North Eastern
  • Eastern
  • Nairobi and Central
  • Nyanza and Western
  • Rift Valley.

The APHRC invites applications for Quantitative Field Interviewers in a study that aims to estimate the incidence of abortion, understand the circumstances women seek an abortion, the methods they use, and the complications that result from induced abortion, and measure the capacity of the health system to provide post-abortion care in Kenya. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Recruit/identify knowledgeable participants using a set of eligibility criteria across the country.
  • Obtain and  document  informed  consent  from  the  study  participants  prior  to  the interviews.
  • Conduct interviews with all recruited study participants and review collected data to ensure all questions are completed prior to online submission.
  • Perform other related duties as may be assigned by the Principal Investigator.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health or any health-related field.
  • Ability to conduct quantitative interviews in Kiswahili and English.
  • Have experience in quantitative research  and electronic data capture methods.
  • Proven past working experience in Sexual and Reproductive Health studies, preferably abortion-related.
  • Be a resident in any of the regions listed above (area of residence should be clearly indicated on the cover letter).
  • Be available to work full time on the project for the duration of the study.

QUALITATIVE FIELD INTERVIEWERS

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Take notes and compile comprehensive qualitative interview debriefing reports/notes.
  2. Moderate/facilitate qualitative interviews with all recruited study respondents.
  3. Prepare data collection progress report and updates.
  4. Other related tasks assigned by the supervisor, project manager and principal investigator.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Development (ECD), Gender and Development or Health related field.
  • Must be a resident of Nakuru County, preferably from Nakuru Town West Sub-County (the area of residence should be clearly indicated in the CV or cover letter).
  • Fluent in English and Swahili, both oral and written.
  • Proven experience and skills in qualitative research work.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Availability to work full time on the project for the duration of the study.

QUANTITATIVE FIELD INTERVIEWERS

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Conduct interviews on all recruited study participants.
  2. Complete, edit and submit all assigned interviews for cross-checking and verification by the supervisor on a daily basis.
  3. Keep updated records and databases of assigned work.
  4. Regularly file reports on project activities.
  5. Review the collected data to ensure all questions are completed prior to online submission.
  6. Other related tasks assigned by the supervisor, project manager and principal investigator

Minimum Qualifications

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education(KCSE) certificate, with a minimum grade of C Plain.
  • Must be a resident of Nakuru County preferably from Nakuru Town West Sub-County (area of residence should be clearly indicated on the CV or cover letter).
  • Proven experience in quantitative data collection.
  • Fluent in English and Swahili, both oral and written.
  • Experience in electronic data capture methods like survey CTO or Open Data Kit (ODK) and devices like electronic digital recorders.
