Siaya County Government Hiring 534 Enumerators And 75 Supervisors

The Ministry of Agriculture & Livestock Development in collaboration with the National Agricultural Value Chain Development Project (NAVCDP) have organized a countrywide farmers’ enumeration and registration exercise that will include data collection on; geographical location, various livestock enterprises, various crop enterprises, aquaculture, farm ownership, land and water management, farm equipment and any other information about the farmer that would be deemed necessary. 

Therefore, the Department of Agriculture, Siaya County in collaboration with NAVCDP has embarked on recruitment of suitable and qualified candidates for the positions below:-

1 .      Senior Supervisors (SIX (6) positions)

For appointment as a Senior Supervisor, a candidate must possess the following:

Minimum academic qualification of a Degree from a recognized University preferably in Agricultural Sciences, Statistics, Social Sciences, Community Development, and any other related disciplines.

  1. Must be computer literate and able to use a tablet.
  2. Must be able to communicate in Kiswahili, and English.
  3. The supervisors will also be identified from County Government staff. Consideration will be given to the civil servants in the County.
  4. Senior County officers and subject matter specialists at Sub-County or County level.
  5. Experience in personnel management, supervision, extension, and data collection is an advantage.

Note:

(i) Assistant Ward-based Supervisors: Supervise Agri-preneurs during baseline/routine data collection; (ii) Ward-based Supervisors: Supervise and backstop Assistant Ward-based supervisors during baseline/routine data collection

(iii) Senior Supervisors: Supervise and backstop Ward-based supervisors during the baseline/routine data collection.

2.       Ward-Based Supervisors (Thirty (30) positions)

For appointment as a Ward-Based Supervisor, a candidate must possess the following:

Minimum academic qualification of a Degree from a recognized University preferably in Agricultural Sciences, Statistics, Social Sciences, Community Development, and any other related disciplines.

  1. Must be computer literate and able to use a tablet.
  2. Must be able to communicate in Kiswahili, English, and Local Dialect.
  3. The supervisors will also be identified from County Government staff.
  4. Consideration will be given to the civil servants in the County.
  5. Should be currently working in the Ward that He/ She will be supervising.

Participation in similar exercises. Experience in extension and data collection will be an added advantage.

3.       Assistant Ward-Based Supervisors (Thirty nine (39) positions)

For appointment as an Assistant Ward-Based Supervisor, a candidate must possess the following:

  1. Have minimum academic qualification of a Diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution preferably in Agricultural Sciences, Statistics, Community Development, or any other related discipline.
  2. Must be computer literate and able to use a tablet.
  3. Must be able to communicate in Kiswahili/English.
  4. The ability to converse in the Local Dialect will be an added advantage.
  5. The Assistant Supervisors will also be identified from County Government staff and should preferably be Frontline/field service providers.
  6. Should be currently working in the target Ward.
  7. Participation in similar exercises involving data collection will be an added advantage.

Expected to assist the ward-based supervisor in providing oversight.

CRITERIA FOR AGRI-PRENEUR SELECTION

4).  Agri-preneurs/Enumerators (Five hundred and thirty-four (534) positions)
Requirements for Appointment are as follows:
  1. Must be between 20 – 45 years of Age with a national ID.
  2. Must be an active resident of the Ward in which the profiling exercise is being undertaken.
  3. Minimum academic qualification of a post-secondary qualification from a recognized institution, preferably in Agricultural Sciences, Agribusiness, Statistics, Social Sciences, Community development & related disciplines.
  4. Demonstrate some experience in Agriculture and Agri-business and interactions with farmers
  5. Must own a smartphone and be computer literate.
  6. Must be able to communicate in Kiswahili, English, and the local dialect in their locality.
  7. Ability and willingness to remain personally involved and committed on a full-time basis.
  8. Strong experience in community mobilization and training farmers on agricultural value chains.
