Conductors – Enrich Every Journey
As a Conductor at Kenya Bus Service Management (KBSM), you will play a pivotal role in ensuring a safe, smooth, and pleasant journey for our passengers. You will be responsible for maintaining order on the bus, providing excellent customer service, and assisting passengers throughout their ride.
- Checking Passenger Tickets: Collecting and verifying passengers’ tickets, ensuring they are valid, and offering assistance when needed.
- Fare Collection: Accurately collecting fares from passengers and providing them with appropriate change when required.
- Customer Service: Greeting passengers, assisting with boarding and disembarking, and addressing passenger inquiries or concerns in a friendly and professional manner.
- Safety Compliance: Ensuring passengers adhere to safety regulations, such as wearing seatbelts, and addressing any disruptive behavior on board.
- Assisting with Special Needs: Offering assistance to passengers with special needs, such as the elderly or passengers with disabilities.
- Announcements: Making necessary announcements during the journey, such as upcoming stops, route changes, or any other relevant information.
- Monitoring Passengers: Keeping an eye on passenger activity and reporting any unusual or suspicious behavior to the driver or authorities as needed.
- Ticket Sales: If applicable, selling tickets to passengers who may not have pre-purchased them.
- Ticket Reconciliation: Ensuring that ticket sales match the number of passengers on the bus and reporting any discrepancies.
- Route Knowledge: Familiarity with the bus route and being able to provide directions or route information to passengers.
As a Conductor at KBSM, you have a vital role in creating a memorable and enjoyable travel experience for our passengers. To qualify for the Conductor position, you should meet the following minimum requirements:
- Valid Certificate of Good Conduct: We believe in ensuring the safety and trust of our passengers. A clean certificate of good conduct is essential.
- Must have a KCSE Certificate: A Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) is required to demonstrate your educational qualifications.
- NHIF and NSSF Cards: We care about the well-being of our employees, so we require you to have both NHIF and NSSF cards.
- Age Range 20-45: Ideal candidates for the Conductor position should be between the ages of 20 to 45 years.
- Good Customer Service: Excellent customer service skills are highly valued. You will interact with passengers daily, and ensuring their satisfaction is your responsibility.
- Fluent in English and Kiswahili: Effective communication in both English and Kiswahili is vital for providing exceptional service and understanding passengers’ needs.
Drivers – Steer Your Career with Us
As a Driver at Kenya Bus Service Management (KBSM), you will be the captain of our vehicles, responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of passengers. Your role is crucial in ensuring that passengers reach their destinations comfortably and on time.
- Safe Driving: Operate the bus in a safe and responsible manner, adhering to traffic rules and regulations.
- Passenger Safety: Ensure the safety and well-being of passengers throughout the journey, including helping passengers board and disembark safely.
- Vehicle Inspection: Conduct daily pre-trip inspections of the bus to ensure that it is in good working condition, reporting any issues to maintenance staff.
- Route Adherence: Follow the designated route, making scheduled stops, and keeping to the timetable.
- Ticket Verification: Cooperate with the Conductor in verifying passengers’ tickets and maintaining an accurate count of passengers on board.
- Customer Service: Interact professionally with passengers, providing a courteous and welcoming atmosphere.
- Emergency Procedures: Be trained and prepared to handle emergency situations, such as accidents or breakdowns, and ensure passengers’ safety.
- Cash Handling: If applicable, handle cash from fare collection and provide accurate financial records to the Conductor.
- Communication: Maintain communication with the Conductor and passengers, addressing any questions or concerns as needed.
- Maintenance Reporting: Report any mechanical issues or vehicle defects promptly to the maintenance department.
- Documentation: Complete required records and reports, including driver logs and incident reports.
- Fueling and Maintenance: Ensure the vehicle is fueled, cleaned, and well-maintained as needed.
Drivers at KBSM are the backbone of our operation, responsible for safely and efficiently transporting passengers. To be eligible for the Driver position, you should meet the following minimum requirements:
- At least 5 years and above PSV driving experience: We value experience and professionalism in our drivers. You should be well-acquainted with the nuances of public service vehicle operation.
- Valid Driver’s License – D2 or D3: You must hold a valid PSV driver’s license to qualify for this position.
- Valid Certificate of Good Conduct: Just like our Conductors, we require our Drivers to have a clean certificate to maintain a safe and trusted environment for our passengers.
- NHIF and NSSF Cards: Your health and retirement benefits are important to us. Having both NHIF and NSSF cards is essential.
- Aged 30-45 Years: The ideal age range for Driver candidates is 30 to 45 years.
- Good Understanding of Nairobi PSV routes: Familiarity with Nairobi’s public service vehicle routes is a must. Your knowledge of the city’s roads will ensure a smooth and efficient journey for our passengers.
