The successful operations assistant will coordinate procurement & logistics tasks to deliver successful programs while demonstrating excellent stewardship of donor funds and compliance with Mercy Corps and donor regulations. They will maintain strong cooperative relationships with other departments and interact effectively with international and national personnel both in a managerial and training capacity while demonstrating the ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and process information in support of changing program activities. The most successful Mercy Corps staff members have a solid commitment to teamwork and accountability, thrive in evolving and changing environments and make effective written and verbal communication a priority in all situations.

Key Responsibilities.

  1. Assist in developing and maintaining a consistent content calendar.
  2. Attend events with TT and/or the SMT team and capture content to create social cards for the different channels.
  3. Respond to social media queries after cross checking with the team member question relates to ensure there is alignment.
  4. Track social media engagement to identify high-performing ideas and campaigns for scalability.
  5. Respond to comments and DMs on social media platforms.
  6. Brainstorm and research ideas for original content.
  7. Create compelling graphics to share across social channels ie infographics, motion videos.
  8. Help create and edit short form videos.
  9. Develop new strategies for increasing engagement.
  10. Assist with photo/video content shoots.
  11. Ensure brand message is consistent.
  12. Assist in managing & updating the website (ALE)
  13. Conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to Mercy Corps and to not jeopardize its humanitarian mission.
  14. Other duties as assigned.

Learning Objectives                                                                                                      

The intern will:

  • Develop critical-thinking skills by contributing original ideas directly to organization head and development team in brainstorm and ideation sessions.
  • Intern will develop better written communication skills by producing original online content

Qualifications                                                                                                  

  • Bachelor’s degree in communication or any related field
  • Design & creating videos will be an added advantage.
  • A good team player
  • A critical thinker
