County Government of Turkana Hiring  Chairperson, Turkana County Public Service Board 

The County Government of Turkana is seeking dynamic, result-oriented, and qualified Kenyan citizens to fill two critical leadership positions:

Duties and Responsibilities

The Chairperson of the Turkana County Public Service Board will act as the spokesperson and liaison between the County Public Service and the County Executive. Responsibilities include:

  1. Establishing and abolishing offices in the County Public Service.
  2. Appointing and confirming appointments for County Public Service positions, including on boards of urban areas.
  3. Exercising disciplinary control over County Public Service employees.
  4. Preparing and submitting regular reports on board functions to the County Assembly.
  5. Promoting the values and principles of public service as per Articles 10 and 232 of the Constitution.
  6. Evaluating and reporting compliance with public service values and principles.
  7. Advising on human resource planning, development, and performance management.
  8. Recommending remuneration, pensions, and gratuities to the Salaries and Remuneration Commission.

General Requirements for Both Positions

Applicants must:

  1. Be Kenyan citizens.
  2. Have at least a first degree from a recognized university in Kenya (Master’s degree is an added advantage).
  3. Possess at least 10 years of experience in management and administration in the public or private sector.
  4. Demonstrate leadership, strategic thinking, and a result-oriented approach.
  5. Be conversant with the Constitution of Kenya and Devolution Laws.
  6. Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution on Leadership and Integrity.
  7. Be members of a registered professional body.
  8. Show the ability to work in a multi-ethnic environment and under pressure.
  9. Demonstrate knowledge in human resource management, financial management, and ICT.
  10. For Chairperson applicants: Knowledge of Turkana County and its complexities is required.

  • Applications from candidates with degrees from non-Kenyan universities must include approval from the Commission for University Education.
