The University of Nairobi is seeking exceptional professionals to join the USAID Fahari Ya Jamii Project. This United States Agency for International Development (USAID) initiative is dedicated to supporting the implementation of the Kenya Health Partnership for Quality Services (HIV, FP/RMNCAH, Nutrition, and WASH) in Nairobi and Kajiado Counties.

Location: Nairobi and Kajiado Counties
Reporting To: Grants and Compliance Manager (GCM)
Duration: Up to September 30, 2025


Duties and Responsibilities

The Grants Officer will play a crucial role in ensuring effective administrative management and compliance for sub-award agreements. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Administrative Oversight:
    • Provide comprehensive administrative management of sub-award agreements.
    • Ensure compliance with donor rules and regulations throughout the grant lifecycle, from initiation to closeout.
    • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
  2. Preparation and Monitoring:
    • Draft and finalize outgoing agreements.
    • Track disbursements to sub-awardees, ensure reconciliations, and maintain grant files and trackers.
  3. Collaboration and Support:
    • Work closely with project teams to monitor compliance, manage risks, and address contractual issues.
    • Provide guidance on donor regulations, particularly USAID rules and requirements.
  4. Compliance Advisory:
    • Collaborate with the Grants and Compliance Manager to advise staff on managing grant-related risks, contractual obligations, and reporting requirements.
