Job Description: Weighing Scale Technician
As a Weighing Scale Technician, you will be responsible for the technical oversight and performance reliability of all weighing systems across Victory Farms’ operations. This role requires a hands-on technician with expertise in calibration, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and electrical fault resolution related to weighing equipment.
Your contribution will directly impact the precision of our production data, inventory management, and overall operational efficiency. The ideal candidate is expected to possess strong technical know-how, a high level of attention to detail, and a proactive attitude toward maintenance and problem-solving.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Preventive Maintenance & Calibration
- Conduct regular scheduled preventive maintenance of all electronic and mechanical weighing systems.
- Calibrate weighing equipment to ensure accurate performance and compliance with both internal and external standards.
- Troubleshooting & Repairs
- Diagnose and rectify faults or malfunctions in weighing systems in a timely manner to reduce downtime and ensure accuracy in operations.
- Identify root causes of recurring issues and recommend sustainable solutions.
- Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure that all weighing systems are compliant with industry and regulatory standards including weights and measures acts.
- Uphold internal audit requirements and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date service logs, calibration records, and maintenance documentation for all weighing equipment.
- Provide detailed reports during inspections, maintenance activities, and audits.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with production, quality assurance, logistics, and warehouse teams to troubleshoot and resolve weighing-related discrepancies.
- Offer technical support during the installation and commissioning of new weighing systems or upgrades.
- Inventory & Spare Parts Management
- Monitor and manage stock levels for spare parts, calibration tools, and consumables related to weighing systems.
- Ensure that critical components are readily available to avoid interruptions.
- Technical Support in Audits
- Assist during both internal and external audits by providing technical documentation and showcasing system compliance.
- Support verification checks required during quality and safety inspections.
- General Electrical Support
- Perform basic electrical tasks such as replacing defective bulbs, sockets, wires, and extension connections within the maintenance scope.
- Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance
- Adhere strictly to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies in all technical and maintenance activities.
- Promote a safety-first culture across all departments by modeling best practices.
- Other Duties
- Perform additional maintenance-related responsibilities as delegated by the Maintenance Manager or Engineering Lead.
Candidate Profile
To succeed in this role, you must demonstrate technical acumen, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently under minimal supervision. A collaborative mindset and commitment to operational excellence are also essential for this role.
Key Requirements:
- Diploma or Certificate in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or any other related technical discipline.
- Proven hands-on experience in calibration and maintenance of weighing equipment.
- Competence in basic electrical diagnostics and repair.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a structured approach to problem-solving.
- Capability to maintain and interpret technical documentation.
- Ability to manage time effectively while responding to both scheduled and unscheduled tasks.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a team-oriented attitude.
- Willingness to work in shifts and respond to urgent maintenance requests when needed.
