AESA East Africa is looking for a dynamic and proactive Junior Project Manager with relevant skills in the socioeconomic development context of East Africa.

The Junior Project Manager will be responsible of planning, budgeting, reporting, execution and delivery into service of allocated projects, and/or work packages supporting the timely delivery of projects within required procedures and specifications.

Purposes and Main contents of the Job:

  • Preparation of company’s references, letter of Expression of interest (EOI) and tender proposal for submission in line with the tender dossier requirements;
  • Support the senior colleagues in the daily backstopping activities as well as technical and financial management of the projects;
  • Searching, contacting and checking the availability and interest of independent experts for their selection in specific regional or local assignments;
  • Development and maintenance of relevant project plans, work breakdown structures, budget management, reporting, including robust risk identification and mitigation actions;
  • Responsible for raising appropriate workable options, and agreeing responsibilities for each work package to ensure the needs of the projects are being met within defined portfolio.

Academic Qualification:

  • University degree in Project Management, Political science, Law, Economics, Environment, Agriculture, Development Studies or equivalent.

General Professional Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience in project/programme management in one or more of the following sectors: agriculture & rural development, economic development, social development and environment and climate change;
  • Very good capabilities in report writing and documents preparation;
  • Ability to simultaneously manage parallel projects at different stages and related activities;
  • Ability to carefully read and understand Terms of Reference (TOR), Requests for Services (RfS) coming from international donors (European Union Delegation Delegations; World Bank; African Development Bank; Trade Mark East Africa etc.) and local/regional authorities (Ministries, local governments, EAC etc.) towards successful application and execution;
  • Excellent knowledge of the East Africa Community and availability to travel within the Region;
  • Proficiency command in using Microsoft Office tools, in particular Word, PowerPoint and Excel;
  • Good interpersonal and teamwork skills, verbal and non-verbal communication skills;
  • Creativity and ability to solve day-to-day project issues/ problems;
  • Adaptability to work in a multicultural environment;
  • Previous working experience with international/local donors or partner companies is an added advantage.

Languages:

  • Fluent in English (speaking and writing) and Kiswahili;
  • Any other language (French and Portuguese) is an asset.
