Senior Journalist – Business

Job Introduction

The BBC is an international multimedia broadcaster on TV, radio, online and social networks with a weekly global audience of 320 million.

We are now recruiting a Senior Multimedia Broadcast Journalist with a Business background to join our team in Nairobi.

Role Responsibility

Reporting to the Business Editor, Africa, your role will be to support the new Africa Business Unit and its video and TV products. You will put together creative Business programmes and content, offering new angles and deeper exploration to stories, interviews, profiles and digital content.  We want you to help shape BBC Africa’s Business agenda, setting an example for the team follow in order to inspire our audiences.  You will plan, structure, write and produce content for multiple platforms to the highest editorial standards and oversee the work of others

Are you the right candidate?

The successful candidate will have a demonstrable background in a senior journalistic role, with excellent English and Swahili language skills (written and spoken). You must have excellent knowledge of business in Africa and internationally, with a strong understanding of what audiences are looking for in digital and social media business coverage.  You will be skilled in planning and producing TV and video packages for a variety of platforms, with the ability to demonstrate strong editorial judgement.  Digital skills are essential.
