Community Based Facilitators Needed!!!


Care Kenya is currently partnering with GIZ/GIAE to implement a project on strengthening the business orientation for smallholder farmers in western Kenya (SBOSH Project) for a period of 18 months in Siaya, Bungoma and Kakamega counties. The project runs from August 2019 to January 2021. In line with this, CARE is recruiting Community Based Facilitators (CBFs) who will work closely with the project field staff to implement the project.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Mobilize and sensitize selected sweet potato farmers on the project activities.
• Training selected sweet potato farmers on Voluntary Savings and Loans methodology (VSLA)
• Monitor and mentor the trained farmers on the VSLA methodology.
• Support training of dairy Cooperative members alongside the project field staff.
• Collect MIS and other relevant data as directed by the project.
• Compile monthly report of their activities using templates prescribed by the project.
Kakamega County target areas: Matete, Malava, Navakholo, Khwisero, Matungu, Mumias, Lurambi.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS

• KCSE Certificate/ “ O” Level education
• At least a certificate in social studies (Business development, sociology, community development, project planning and management, Agriculture, education and any other relevant)

2. EXPERIENCE

At least one year experience in community development
• Knowledge and experience on working with groups (Village Savings and Loans methodology skill added advantage)
• Experience in adult training techniques
• Experience on smartphone applications.
• Knowledge on English/Kiswahili and local language
• Knowledge of the local area
• Experience on community mobilization

• Must be willing to reside within that community for the next 2 years
