Job Title: Mechanical Technician
Job Location: Nairobi
Responsibilities
·         Utilize technical skills to operate advanced electrical, plumbing, boiler systems, pool pumps booster pumps and refrigeration and by ensuring the following are maintained:
·         Gym and guest areas, restaurants and public areas – to include clearing blockages in toilets and drains, repairs to furnishings, tile grouting, plumbing, electrical appliances and equipment including lamps, ceiling light globes, hinges, air conditioning and wall finishes.
·         Tools – to clean, lubricate, protect, and otherwise maintain all tools and equipment in the hotel. Ensure that all tools used are accounted for and returned to the store and secured in proper storage area when not in use. To secure and otherwise maintain tools assigned in a correct manner.
·         Fire Alarm/Life Safety Systems – to monitor all systems in accordance with training provided. Be fully conversant in all aspects of the system operation, emergency response procedures and communication.
·         Energy Conservation – to observe and analyze energy and utilities usage in the club and on the grounds. To assist and identify ways to conserve and reduce energy consumption and report ideas to the engineering department.
·         Emergencies – to be available to respond to any emergencies when on duty. Assume responsibility for protecting guests, colleagues and building assets during emergency situations.
·         Accident Prevention and Safety – to be aware of all existing departmental safe work method analysis and to strive to work in an accident-free manner and to create a safe work environment for others. To use tools and equipment in a safe manner so as not to endanger self or others, and to continuously maintain awareness of safety in the workplace by reporting any potential risks, threats or dangerous situations to senior management.
·         Records – to read, log, track, and interpret readings from meters, gauges, and other measuring equipment. To maintain a thorough log of each day’s activities and problems that occur and to ensure this information is passed on to other shifts. Take reading of electric and water meter when working on night and day shift duty. Take swimming pool temperature reading
·         Attend to the Maintenance Request issued by concerned department.
·         Follow the proper shift taking over and handing over procedures.
·         Maintain the club facilities and related equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
·         Understand and refer to the Standard Operating Procedures in all situations.
·         Performs other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
·         To perform any related duties and special projects as assigned by the Management.
Skills, interests and qualities
To become a maintenance technician, you will need to have:
·         Excellent knowledge of maintenance methods and approach to issues
·         Clear understanding of health and safety issues, and facility Regulations
·         Good communication skills
·         The ability to work well as part of a team
·         A responsible attitude
·         Basic IT skills, such as knowledge of CAD software
·         Problem-solving skills
·         Good organizational skills and the ability to meet deadline
Qualification
·         Degree/Diploma/Certificate in Mechanical engineering plant or production option
·         Hands on experience would be best preferred
·         Have worked in hospitality industry
·         At least 3 years’ experience
