Recently, rape has been a trending topic on various social media platforms in Nigeria. Different hashtags have popped up demanding justice for the victims. The different views expressed by various people has shown that there is a lack of complete understanding of what sexual consent really entails.
The concept of consent, like every other aspect of sex education has always been shrouded in a cloak of secrecy, particularly in Africa where the mere mention of sex and anything sexual makes people uncomfortable. As a result, consent is greatly misunderstood and misconstrued.
