PCEA Chogoria Hospital was established in 1922 and serves as a referral and teaching Hospital. It has a 295 bed capacity that focuses on the provision of Curative, Preventive and Promotive Health Care services in Tharaka Nithi County and the greater Meru, Embu and as far as Isiolo and Marsabit Counties.

The Hospital is recruiting competent and mature Christian Professionals to fill the following vacant positions:

1. OBSTETRICIAN & GYNAECOLOGIST

Job purpose: The successful candidate will be expected to provide overall leadership and governance, as well as clinical care in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Duties & Responsibilities.

  • Undertaking general diagnosis, care, treatment and rehabilitation of patients
  • Carrying out specialized clinical care
  • Providing psycho- social interventions
  • Providing clinical services to patients
  • Training, consulting and performing surgeries
  • Carrying out forensic and medico-legal services
  • Participating in disease surveillance, prevention and control
  • Participating in health education and promotion
  • Implementing health projects and programs
  • Maintain up to date health information systems
  • Monitoring provision of health treatment and care
  • Undertaking health research and analyzing medical reports.
  • Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Engage in teaching and mentorship activities of junior doctors and interns

Minimum Job Requirements.

  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.Ch.B) degree from an institution recognized by the Medical Council
  • Master’s degree in Obstetrics, and Gynecology from an institution recognized by the Medical Council
  • Specialist recognition by the Medical Council
  • Valid Practicing license from Medical Council
  • Demonstrated ability, initiative and professional competence in organizing, directing and executing work at this level and through the performance appraisal report
  • At least two years post graduate working experience will be an added advantage
  • Knowledge and interest in Laparoscopy will be an added advantage

2. COMMUNITY ORAL HEALTH OFFICER (C.O.H.O)

Overall Purpose: Working with the Hospital’s Dental team, the C.O.H.O’s main responsibility will

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Comprehensive dental and periodontal examination, radiographic investigation, diagnosis and treatment of common dental conditions.
  • Oral hygiene education and diet counselling.
  • Scaling, polishing and prophylaxis.
  • Fissure sealant and Fluoride application.
  • Minor oral surgery: extractions, simple suturing, Incision and drainage, reducing simple fractures.
  • Class I restorations and temporary fillings
  • Alginate impressions and study model fabrication.
  • Implement and adhere to infection prevention protocols 
  • Consulting with and Referral to dentist and other specialists.
  • Guiding students on attachment

Minimum Job Requirements.

  • Diploma in Community Oral Health from Kenya Medical Training College or an equivalent recognized institution.
  • Proficiency in Computer skills
  • Minimum Two years working experience as a Community Oral Health Officer in a reputable health facility an added advantage.
  • Registered as a Community Oral Health Officer with the regulatory body.
  • Valid current Practicing License.

3. CRITICAL CARE NURSE

Job purpose: Reporting to the Nursing Services Manager, will be responsible for promoting and maintaining high standards of professional nursing care by providing quality services with special focus on critical care nursing to meet the needs of patients and their families.

Duties & Responsibilities.

  • Identifies patient care requirements, by establishing personal rapport with actual patients and other persons to understand care requirements.
  • Establish a compassionate environment by providing nursing care, emotional psychological and spiritual support to patients, friends and families.
  • Promotes patients independence by establishing patient care goals, teaching patients, friends and family
  • To understand medications and self care skills

Minimum Job Requirements.

  • Diploma in Community Health Nursing (KRCHN/KRN) or BSN from a recognized institution
  • Higher diploma in Critical care Nursing from a recognized institution
  • Should be registered and licensed by Nursing Council of Kenya
  • Certification of ACLS AND ATLS will be an added advantage.
  • Previous experience in a busy health care facility will be an added advantage.
