The Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Cooperatives – Kakamega County, in
collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development and the National Agricultural
Value Chain Development Project (NAVCDP), is pleased to announce to the Public the recruitment of
Supervisors & Agripreneurs/Enumerators to undertake the registration and mapping of Agricultural
Value Chain Actors in the County of Kakamega for a period of one (1) month on TEMPORARY BASIS.

AGRIPRENUER/ENUMERATOR (825 POSTS)

Kakamega, Kenya

This Job will expire on 21st August 2023 at 11.59 P.M 

Terms of Service: .one (1) Month on Temporary Basis. 

Duties and Responsibilities

To undertake the registration and mapping of Agricultural Value Chain Actors in the County of Kakamega

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment as a Senior Supervisor, a candidate MUST: 

a)Be between 20 – 45 years of age with a national ID; 

b)Be an active resident of the ward in which the profiling exercise is being undertaken; 

c)Have a Minimum academic qualification of a post-secondary qualifications from a recognized institution, preferably in Agricultural Sciences, Agribusiness, Statistics, Social Sciences, Community Development & related disciplines; 

d)Demonstrate some experience in agriculture or agribusiness & interactions with farmers; 

e)Own a smart phone & be computer literate;

f)Be able to communicate in Kiswahili, English & the local dialect in their locality;

g)Ability & willingness to remain personally involved & committed on full time basis; and 

h)Strong past experience in community mobilization & training farmers on agricultural value chains.

WARD-BASED SUPERVISORS (60 POSTS)

Duties and Responsibilities

To undertake the registration and mapping of Agricultural Value Chain Actors in the County of Kakamega

Requirements for Appointment 

For appointment as a Ward-Based Supervisor, a candidate MUST: 

a)Have a minimum academic qualification of a Degree from a recognized University, preferably in Agricultural Sciences, Statistics, Social Sciences, Community Development and any other related disciplines;

b)Be computer literate and able to use a tablet;

c)Be able to communicate in Kiswahili, English, and Local Dialect; 

d)The supervisors will also be identified from county government staff. Consideration will be given to the civil servants in the county;

e)Should be currently working in the Ward that He/ She will be supervising; and

f)Participation in similar exercises. Experience on extension and data collection will be an added advantage.

ASSISTANT WARD-BASED SUPERVISOR (46 POSTS)

For appointment as an Assistant Ward-Based Supervisor, a candidate MUST: 

a)Have a minimum academic qualification of a Diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution, preferably in Agricultural Sciences, Statistics, Community Development or any other related discipline;

b)Be computer literate and able to use a tablet;

c)Be able to communicate in Kiswahili/English; the ability to converse in the Local dialect will be an added advantage;

d)The Assistant supervisors will also be identified from County Government staff and should preferably be Frontline/field service providers;

e)Should be currently working in the target ward; 

f)Participation in similar exercises involving data collection will be an added advantage; and

g)Expected to assist the ward-based supervisor in providing oversight.

SENIOR CLERICAL OFFICER – JOB GROUP CPSB 11 ‘H’ (30 POSTS)

Basic Salary: Kshs. 25,470 x 1,110 – 26,580 x 1,120 – 27,700 x 1,150 -28,850 x 1,170 – 30,020 x 1,250 – 31,270 x 1,300 –  32,570 x 1,380 – 33,950 p.m.

Duties and Responsibilities

Specific duties and responsibilities will include

a)Verify compiled statistical records for accuracy;

b)Process human resource statistics;

c)Prepare indents; 

d)Process pension documents;

e)Prepare agenda for CHRMAC;

f)Maintain stores, records and equipment inventory;

g)Prepare estimates of expenditure for general office services;

h)Assist in planning office accommodation and layout;

i)Prepare estimates of expenditure on general office services;

j)Safe custody of invoices, receipts and other records;

k)Process documents for issue of licenses or certificates under relevant Acts; and

l)Prepare and maintain records and ensure proper maintenance of filing system.

Requirements for Appointments 

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:-

a)Served in the grade of Clerical Officer I, Job Group CPSB 12/’G’ for a minimum period of three (3) years;

b)Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) Mean Grade C- (Minus) or its equivalent qualification;

c)Certificate in any of the following disciplines: Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Kenya Accounts Technician Certificate (KATC), Kenya Administration and Management Examination (KAME) or any other approved equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;

d)Certificate in Information Communication Technology (ICT) and be proficient in Word Processors, Spread Sheets, Presentation and Database; and

e)Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
