The Aga Khan Primary School, Mombasa (AKPS) Mombasa offers the Kenya National Curriculum 8-4-4 and Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) from Grades 1 to 6 (CBC) and Class 8 (8-4-4). The Aga Khan Primary School, Mombasa has an opening for the following position: SWIMMING TEACHER/COACH.

Role Summary

The candidate is expected to provide swimming classes in the most efficient, SAFE and effective manner. He/She will create a positive and fun coaching environment for our students. They are required to motivate and encourage learners to develop their swimming ability.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Be ready to make every effort to expand the subject knowledge by having recourse to a variety of activities.
  2. Be able to identify school swimming needs and inform the Headteacher.
  3. Be fully involved and promote other co-curricular activities in the school.
  4. Assessing the progress of students and adjusting teaching programs accordingly.
  5. Implementing ground rules for each swim session to prevent accidents & injuries.
  6. Planning swimming lessons that consider students’ abilities and progressive development.
  7. Keep a record of the swimming equipment available in the school.
  8. An understanding of, and practical expertise in, information technology as an integrated educational tool.


QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  1. Must be a trained Swimming coach with a minimum of FINA Level II training, or Kenya Swimming Teachers & Coaches Association or its equivalent
  2. Certification as a lifeguard and First Aid will be an added advantage
  3. Must be registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC)
  4. 3 years experience with demonstrable achievements in teaching swimming in a school establishment.
