ILRI Hiring Assistant to Project Manager

REACTS-IN is a multidisciplinary project that seeks to use gender responsive approaches to reduce maternal, Infant and young child malnutrition implemented under the HarvestPlus Program together with other partners. As a member of the consortium, HarvestPlus will provide technical leadership in accelerating production and consumption of biofortified crops; namely high iron beans and  pro-vitamin A rich orange sweet potato. HarvestPlus Program is a program of International Food Policy Research Institute and is hosted by ILRI in Kenya.

The overall role of this position is to support the Project Manager in planning and executing the REACTS-IN project activities to ensure the project runs smoothly and deliverables are timely. This position will report to the REACTS-IN Project Manager.

 Responsibilities

  • Organize and coordinate project activities, including but not limited to training activities for the project.
  • Liaising with field level project stakeholders including seed suppliers, extension, other REACT-IN partners concerning project details and deliverables
  • Monitor day-to-day project activities as per the work plans to ensure due dates are met.
  • Manage the communication of project information to relevant stakeholders.
  • Collate data and information for preparation of project documentation and reporting.
  • Coordinate project logistics such as delivery of micronutrient enriched (biofortified) seeds to farmers in project sites.
  • Perform any other related duties as may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in development studies, agriculture, nutrition, project management, or any related field of study with a minimum of two years relevant experience.
  • Relevant professional certification
  • Experience working with private and public stakeholders
  • Proficiency in computer MS suite
  • Strong written and oral communication including report writing skills
  • Excellent multitasking skills and to work under pressure with minimal supervision
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Highly organized.
  • Experience in project monitoring and progress reporting is an advantage.

Post location: Nairobi, Kenya

Terms of Appointment

This position is at job level HG 12 and it is only open to Kenyan nationals. The position is a Three (3) year contract, renewable subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funding. ILRI offers a competitive salary and benefits package which includes medical and other insurances.
