APHRC Hiring Quantitative and Qualitative Field Interviewers

APHRC invites applications for Quantitative and Qualitative Field Interviewers to participate in data collection activities in the competency-based curriculum (CBC) study in Nairobi, Murang’a and Samburu.

The study’s main objective is to provide empirical evidence on successful aspects and challenges in implementing the competence-based curriculum.

Quantitative Field Interviewers Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Conduct interviews with all recruited study participants.
  2. Complete, edit, and submit all assigned interviews for cross-checking and verification by the supervisor on a daily basis.
  3. Review the collected data to ensure all questions are completed prior to online submission.
  4. Follow-up with participants for missing responses or correct any inaccurate responses.
  5. Regularly file reports on project activities.
  6. Ensure the safety of all assigned study tools and equipment.
  7. Any other related activity assigned by the supervisor, project manager and principal investigator.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) certificate, with a minimum grade of C Plain.
  2. Experience in electronic data capture methods like survey CTO or Open Data Kit (ODK) and devices like electronic digital recorders.
  3. Fluent in English and Swahili, both oral and written.
  4. Must be a current resident of either Murang’a, Samburu, or Nairobi County.
  5. Be available to work full-time on the project for the duration of the study.

Qualitative Field Interviewers Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Moderate/facilitate qualitative interviews with all recruited study respondents.
  2. Take notes and compile comprehensive qualitative interview debriefing reports/notes.
  3. Prepare data collection progress report and updates.
  4. Other related tasks assigned by the supervisor, project manager and principal investigator.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in education, social studies, special needs education, or any other related course from a recognized university.
  2. Have proven experience and skills in conducting qualitative interviews.
  3. Have experience in note taking during qualitative interviews.
  4. Be familiar with computer applications, including MS Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint.
  5. Must be a current resident of either Murang’a, Samburu, or Nairobi County.
  6. Be available to work full-time on the project for the duration of the study.
