TBK Hiring : Office Assistant, Assistant Customer Care And Assistant Office Administrator

The Tea Board of Kenya is a State Corporation in the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development
established by Tea Act No. 23 of 2020 to develop, regulate and promote tea sub-sector in Kenya.


The Board invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the following vacant positions:

Office Assistant

(Reference No. (TBK/OA/003/24) ONE (1) POST

Gross salary : Consolidated (TBK JOB GRADE 10)
Leave allowance : As per TBK approved rate
Annual Leave : 30 working days per financial year
Medical Cover : As provided in the TBK Medical Scheme
Terms of Service : Permanent & Pensionable

(a) Requirements for appointment

i. Carrying out photocopying and document binding;
ii. Moving and arranging office equipment and furniture;
iii. Collecting and disposing litter;
iv. Maintaining general cleanliness in area of deployment;
v. Collecting and delivering office items, documents, mail, parcels and postage;
vi. Opening and closing the offices
vii. Preparing tea; and
viii. Locking and opening office premises.

(b) Requirements for appointment

i. Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education Mean Grade D (Plain) or its equivalent;
ii. Proficiency in computer applications; and
iii. Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Upon offer of employment, the successful candidates MUST satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Consitutiton of Kenya 2010 by providing copies of;

i. A valid Tax Compliance Certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
ii. A valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI)
iii. A valid Clearance Certficate from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB).
iv. A valid Clearance Certificate from an approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB); and,
v. A valid Clearance form from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)

Assistant Office Administrator

Terms of Service : Permanent & Pensionable

(a) Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail: –

i. Recording information in shorthand and transcribing in typewritten form;
ii. Processing data and managing e-office;
iii. Operating office equipment;
iv. Ensuring security of office equipment, documents and records;
v. Updating and maintaining office diary;
vi. Attending to visitors/clients; handling telephone calls and appointments;
vii. Managing office petty cash; and
viii. Ensuring good office layout.

(b) Requirements for appointment

i. Passed the following examinations from the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC);
a. Typewriting III (Minimum 50 w.p.m.)/Computerized document processing III;
b. Shorthand III (100 w.p.m)
c. Business English III/Communications I;
d. Office Management III
e. Secretarial Duties II;
f. Commerce II;

OR

i. Diploma in Secretarial Studies, Business Management from the Kenya National Examinations Council or its equivalent; and
ii. Proficiency in computer application;
iii. Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.

Assistant Customer Care

(a) Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail: –

i. Guiding and ushering clients and visitors;
ii. Receiving and directing VIPs/Visitors to relevant offices;
iii. Assisting in organizing sitting arrangement during TBK events;
iv. Displaying information on notice board to guide members to various meeting rooms;
v. Registering, issuing and maintaining visitors passes;
vi. Keeping records and data of visitors;
vii. Receiving and directing telephone calls; and
viii. Collecting feedback forms from suggestion boxes weekly.

(b) Requirements for appointment

i. Diploma in any of the following: Customer Care, Mass Communication, Public Relations, Marketing, Front Office or related field from a recognized institution;
ii. Proficiency in computer application; and
iii. Meet the requirement of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution.
