The specialised coach provides coaching to students on various sports
Key Responsibilities
- Develop sport-specific training strategy for the student athletes.
- Plan, prepare and deliver individual and team training sessions and activities.
- Conduct at least four (4) training sessions per week.
- Identify, develop and expose talented players, in order to maximise their potential.
- Supervise players and ensure that players are provided with a safe, enjoyable and player focused training environment.
- Educate players in the ethos of their respective sport and the values of being a true sportsman.
- Ensure players get equal opportunities to take part in sports activities.
- Set the right examples for players, both on and off the field.
- Maintain an up-to-date record of student athletes participating in training sessions and activities.
- Record and report any injuries, accidents, incidents and suspicions or disclosures of abuse.
- Maintain and keep up-to-date inventories of assigned sports equipment.
- Review the programme at the end of every term and submit a progress report.
- Attend scheduled tournaments and competitions.
- Make recommendations regarding the purchase of sport-specific items.
- Perform any other duties that are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job, as assigned.
Person Specification
- Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education or related field;
- Over 3 years’ experience in teaching, coaching and athletics administration;
- Experience in developing programs for youth and providing opportunities for students to participate and use questions to promote understanding and higher-level thinking skills relevant to sport
- Knowledgeable in teaching and coaching techniques that meet the diverse needs of students.
