Carpentry Maintenance Worker (Carpenter)

Working in the Facility Management section of the Embassy, the Carpentry Maintenance Worker carries out scheduled and unscheduled preventive maintenance and repair work on finish and interior assemblies, furnishings and fixtures in all mission buildings and facilities including residential owned and leased properties.

Job holder would repair, adjust and install doors, windows, hardware, wall, ceiling and floor coverings, sunshades and blinds; fixed furnishings; painting of various surfaces; and replacement specified glazing products with required installation materials.

Assists as needed various manual tasks such as: demolition work, painting, plumbing, carpentry work, routine and preventive maintenance, and general clean-up of work areas.

Supervises and coordinates work and performance for a workforce of  8-10 Custodians at the New Embassy Compound (NEC) and Offsite Facilities.

The incumbent reports to the Custodial Supervisor (FSN 7 – C52503)

Coordinates and performs custodial duties in assigned zones that include cleaning and vacuuming of offices and hallways, dusting office desks and work surfaces, cleaning of windows, kitchens, waiting areas, CAC’s, guard force shacks, showers, and toilets in the entire Mission 400,000sqft of floor space.

Serves as a Voucher Examiner in the Financial Management Center (FMC), reporting to the Supervisory Voucher Examiner, and is responsible for examining, reviewing, auditing, monitoring and processing through the Departments’ Financial Management System all payments for over sixty (60) ICASS Agency entities within the U. S Mission in Kenya.

The incumbent’s work involves processing of a wide variety of complex, challenging, difficult, laborious, and bulky payments in the form of invoices for goods and services received through mechanisms such as Purchase Orders, Contracts, Grants, Loans, and Trust Funds.

The job holder serves as the Director, Prevention Programs, overseeing and supervising HIV Prevention Services for the US Army Medical Research Directorate-Africa (USAMRD-A) PEPFAR program.

The job holder is a Senior Public Health Specialist responsible for planning, formulating, analyzing, evaluating, and/or implementing policies for USAMRD-A’s public health programs for key and vulnerable populations, including all aspects of HIV prevention, including Adolescents Girls and Young Women (Determined, Resilient, Empowered, AIDS- Free, Mentored and Safe – DREAMS and Adolescent and Young People), Orphans and Vulnerable Children (including prevention and social protection to reduce vulnerability), high-risk clients (requiring Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis – PrEP), HIV prevention for military programs, Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision – VMMC, HIV case-finding, and other prevention interventions under PEPFAR.
