Shamiri Institute Hiring Fellow – Limuru Town (Kiambu County)

Shamiri Institute is seeking energetic and self-motivated team players to join us as Shamiri Fellows based at the Limuru Town hub in Kiambu County. Disclaimer: Multiple applications made by a candidate to different hubs will be rejected.

Shamiri Fellows are recent high-school graduates trained to deliver the 4-week Shamiri intervention without prior formal health training as part of the Shamiri program. Fellows receive ten hours of training and weekly supervision from Shamiri Clinical Supervisors. They lead the group-based intervention sessions with high school students within the schools that we will be implementing with in Kiambu County. About Shamiri Institute

We are a youth-led organization shaping the future of mental health by making it affordable for all, personalized to an individual’s needs and circumstances, and integrated within existing caregiving systems and community life. This will help to build a future where young people can thrive across the African continent. Based in Nairobi, Kenya, Shamiri was founded in 2018 at Harvard University by award-winning Kenyan entrepreneur and community – mobilizer Tom Osborn and rising global mental health researcher Katherine Venturo-Conerly. Since our founding in 2018, we have worked with over 40,000 youths in secondary schools across Kenya. Through our work, young people have experienced a 40% improvement in mental health and wellbeing, a 14% improvement in social relations, and a 3% improvement in academic grades. Watch this TED talk for more information about our work.
