KWS Announces Recruitment Of Cadets (Assistant Warden I) And Rangers – 1,500

Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) is a State Corporation established as a Uniformed and Disciplined Service
by the Wildlife (Conservation and Management) Act of 1989 (now repealed and replaced by the Wildlife
Conservation and Management Act No. 47 of 2013). The overall mandate of the Service is to conserve and manage national parks, sanctuaries and wildlife in the country and enforce related Laws and Regulations.


The Service is also responsible for management and protection of important and critical water catchment areas and also complements other National Security Agencies in combating insecurity and counter-terrorism initiatives.

The Service operates in remote environment and seeks to recruit 1,500 young and dynamic individuals as Cadets (Assistant Warden I) – 150 and Rangers – 1,350 who can endure the condition for training and
deployment to various conservation areas in response to the wildlife protection challenges currently being experienced in the country in a phased approach as follows:-

CADETS (ASSISTANT WARDEN I) – KWS JOB GRADE “9” – 100 POSTS – REF: KWS/01/2024

Job Requirements:


The applicant must:

  • Be a citizen of Kenya;
  • Be a holder of Bachelor’s degree minimum of 2nd class honors lower division in Wildlife Management, Natural Resources Management, Environmental Science, Range Management, Veterinary Medicine, Criminology & Security Management, Tourism Management, Education, Sociology or Community Development from a recognized institution;
  • Be 28 years old and below;
  • Be of good health and physique;
  • Have no criminal record; and
  • Successful candidates will be required to undergo mandatory paramilitary training for a period of nine (9) months and thereafter be deployed to the field.

Step 3: Attach copies of relevant academic & professional certificates, testimonials, National ID Card/
Passport and detailed CV indicating work experience, current remuneration and employer, names
and contacts of at least two (2) referees;


Step 4: Submit the complete application form together with the attachments to the address below not later than Monday 8th April, 2024 at 4.30pm.

RANGERS – KWS JOB GRADE “15” – 900 POSTS – REF: KWS/02/2024

Job Requirements:


The applicant must:

  • Be a citizen of Kenya;
  • Hold a Kenya National Identity Card/Passport;
  • Hail from the County of recruitment;
  • Possess a minimum mean grade of “D” (Plain) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination or its equivalent from an examination body recognized in Kenya;
  • Be aged between 18 and 26 years;
  • Be physically and medically fit;
  • Have no criminal record; and
  • Successful candidates will be required to undergo mandatory paramilitary training for a period of six (6) months and thereafter be deployed to the field.

NB: National Youth Service (NYS) graduates who meet the above requirements are encouraged to apply.

  1. The recruitment exercise is absolutely FREE OF CHARGE and Kenya Wildlife Service will not be responsible for any recruitment conducted outside guidelines stated herein;
  2. Each applicant must present the original supporting documents for verification. The originals will be returned to the applicant before leaving the recruitment centre;
  3. Any person who presents fake/falsified identity cards, certificates or caught engaging in any corrupt activity shall be arrested and prosecuted;

  9. Due to the nature of training, female candidates must not be pregnant at recruitment and during the entire training period;
