Purpose of the Job:
The job holder will be responsible for providing safe, efficient, high quality diagnostic
imaging services to both inpatient and outpatient using modern imaging technology to
produce radiographs and imaging.
Responsibilities:
- Verify patient clinical history and health status, evaluate related tests and images for
patient - Communicating comfortably and clearly with the patient to explain the procedure, answer
questions and relay information about what to expect during the procedure - Ensures operation of radiology equipment by completing preventive maintenance
requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions;
calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and
techniques. - Identifying and documenting unexpected results that may indicate the need for further
testing or immediate medical attention - Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with institutional and
professional procedures, rules, and regulations - Use radiation safety measures and protection devices to ensure legal compliance and
safety of both the patient and other staff within the premises - Maintains production and quality of radiographs by following established standards and
procedures; developing radiographs; observing radiographic results; making necessary
adjustments - Maintaining the records of patients for future reference
- Training and mentoring subordinates including orienting new employees
- Performing any other work-related duty assigned from time to time
Key Competencies:
- Diploma in medical Imaging Sciences
- Higher diploma in ultrasound will be an added advantage
- At least three (3) years’ experience in similar position
- Knowledge of and ability to apply professional radiological principles, procedures and
techniques - Strong interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of radiological equipment and instruments and their operations
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and in a team-based environment
- Ability to work under stress and for extended hours if called upon
- Able to perform duties well without close supervision
