CREAW Hiring IT Communications Officer

JOB PURPOSE

As the IT Officer at CREAW, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the organization’s information technology systems and infrastructure. Your primary responsibility will be to manage and maintain the organization’s IT resources, including hardware, software, networks, and systems, to support the achievement of CREAW’s mission and objectives.

MAIN ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Manage technology services that meet operational requirements for the organization.
  2. Serves as the lead IT liaison with senior management and staff in designated area(s) to understand and interpret the technological needs of the organization.
  3. Directs and coordinates the local implementation of IT operations, projects, and programs, ensuring alignment of IT services with the organizational needs of the area(s) and adherence to established project management principles and best practices.
  4. Provides technical leadership on a variety of highly specialized project-related activities requiring expertise in specific technical areas for core information technology systems and services.
  5. Reviews vendor contracts and coordinates IT purchases (hardware, software and services) to ensure effective deployment of solutions aligned with user needs.
  6. Participating in the development, implementation, and maintenance of policies, objectives, short- and long range IT planning.
  7. Participates in the design, development, documentation and implementation of policies and standard operating to ensure effectiveness and business continuity.
  8. Participates in development of IT Service Catalogue Offerings, Service Level Agreements, and Operating Level Agreements consistent with the needs of the organization.
  1. Review problem’ resolution mechanisms, and reviewing department performance.
  2. Maintains currency of knowledge with respect to relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems.
  1. Evaluate IT and electronics, audit systems and assess their outcomes.
  2. Preserve ICT assets, information, security and control structures and regularly update CREAW’s asset register.
  3. Monitor network performance and test for weaknesses.
  4. Set up user accounts, permissions and passwords for CREAW staff
  5. Maintaining computer networks and systems including software, mainframes, VPNs, routers and other physical hardware. Installing and configuring network equipment to update or fix hardware or software issues in all CREAW offices and working sites
  6. Updating virus protection software to ensure CREAW data and communications are continuously protected.
  7. Monitoring computer systems to improve network performance for computer systems and networks and ensure network security and connectivity.
  8. Perform regular backups of organization data, organization website and maintain a disaster and data recovery plan to ensure data safety and security, recovery, integrity and minimize downtime.
  9. Optimize CREAW’s social media and website content, metadata, and URLs for search engines to improve organic search rankings and drive more traffic to the website
  10. Working closely with the CREAW’s communication and program leads to support activities related to the organizations communication needs i.e. Graphic design and layouts documentation, developing and designing of IEC materials, editing of images audio and audio visual materials relating to CREAW’s interventions
  11. Supporting the servicing, management and improvement of all of the organizations ICT platforms including but not limited to those that support the communications department, monitoring evaluation, accountability, reflection and learning (MERL), Finance and Administration, Human Resource, Access to Justice and other programs.
  12. Design and implementation of any additional Tools [Software and Hardware] and Equipment support required like additional server or extra additional storage space to allow in testing out server backups and system updates roll outs.
  13. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned and undertake any other related duties and responsibilities that may, from time to time, be assigned.

Qualifications

  •  Degree in Informatics, Computer Science, Information Systems or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • MS Nav and Power BI experience or certification is preferred.
  • Experience with graphic design, website development and management and use of editing softwares for still images, audio and audio visual material
  • Certifications with regard to the “Working experience required” areas will be an advantage.
  • Strong working knowledge of English (spoken and written).

Experience

  • 3+ years leading an IT Application Support and/or Development team.
  • 5+ years’ professional experience in applications development, information management, business intelligence or another related field.
  • Experience in database administration, SQL knowledge and reporting tools such as KOBO.
  • Experience in Integration Platforms.
  • Experience in MS NAV and POWER BI (an advantage)
  • Experience operating in hybrid environments including in-house, outsourced operations & cloud based services.
  • Experience working in the field in the Humanitarian Sector – CREAW experience preferred.
  • Experience working with remote geographically disbursed teams preferred.
  • Solid understanding of software design principles, data model creation, and a good understanding of current programming languages is desirable.
  • Solid understanding and experience with virtualization, operating systems, local and wide area networking, response and recovery, data protection and retention, and other information management disciplines to support an organization of CREAW’s capacity.
  • Strong planning and analytical skills. Experience with Cloud, and hybrid technologies.
  • Demonstrated continuous improvement and project delivery skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and in diverse working environments
  • Ability to work well with others in a multi-cultural and inclusive team.
