United States International University-Africa (USIU-Africa) is a Higher Learning Institution based in Nairobi, Kenya and is the most diverse university in East and Central Africa with about 6,000 students from over 70 nations, and a global network of more than 25,000 alumni. USIU-Africa is the only university in Sub-Saharan Africa whose 38 Undergraduate, Graduate and Doctoral degree programs are accredited by both the Kenya Government through the Commission for University Education (CUE), and by the American Government through the WASC Senior Colleges and Universities Commission (WSCUC).

  1. Development (Fundraising) Officer

Job Summary:

To establish a robust coordination mechanism with USIU’s stakeholders to achieve overall effectiveness in fundraising and social investment programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and research for fundraising and grants opportunities that match USIU-Africa’s strategic intent.
  • Communication and engagement of USIU-Africa’s current partners and prospects, to facilitate solicitation for grants, donations, partnerships and sponsorship.
  • Maintain active records for all existing funders and keep track of pledges and donations accurately.
  • Prepare draft case statements for fundraising activities and provide institutional information for grant applications.
  • Plan, implement and monitor fundraising and CSR events with all university stakeholders in accordance with existing university guidelines, and mobilize participation from all actors.
  • Provide precise information about ongoing fundraising programmes for sharing in USIU-Africa’s formal communication channels and social media, for sustained donor interest and alumni giving.
  • Carry out due diligence on potential fundraising partners to promote compatible and sustainable partnerships, in accordance with existing university guidelines.
  • Be a liaison between USIU-Africa and Kasarani Neighbourhood Association and actively promote USIU Africa’s good repute in Neighborhood activities.
  • Recruit and manage volunteers to participate in various fundraising activities and promote active participation in fundraising by USIU-Africa’s internal stakeholders.
  • Maintaining partnerships and networks for donors, alumni and volunteers.
  • Planning, implementing and promoting fundraising programs that support USIU’s strategic intent.
  • Profiling and advancing University Advancement flagship projects and events.
  • Supporting growth and service delivery for University CSR programs.

Minimum Educational Qualifications and Professional Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree from accredited university.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in Fundraising/Grand writing and Event Management.

Skills and Competencies

  • Superior written, verbal and organizational skills.
  • Excellent Interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work closely with high level staff/faculty and university committees.
  • Read, Write and Speak Fluent English.
  • Analytical, organizational and time management skills.
  • Computer and IT skills.
