The overall purpose of this job is to install and maintain well-functioning electrical connections in order to minimize the probability of accidents and maximize usability in all facilities within the Hospital
Key duties and responsibilities
a) Execute electrical wiring plans to ensure well-functioning lighting, intercom and other electrical systems;
b) Install electrical apparatus, fixtures and equipment and conduct safety checks on the electrical equipment;
c) Install safety and distribution components such as switches, resistors and circuit breaker panels among others;
d) Connect wiring in electrical circuits and networks and ensure compatibility of components;
e) Prepare and assemble conduits and connect wiring through them;
f) Inspect and replace old wiring and insulated cables as well as clean circuits in order to prevent breakdown of systems;
g) Troubleshoot to identify hazards or malfunctions and repair or substitute damaged units;
h) Connect the lines to the wards;
i) Check and ensure all lighting fixtures in the wards, public areas, offices and meeting rooms are in good working condition;
j) Monitor and ensure the backup generator is in good condition;
k) Maintain the distribution panels and rooms and ensure they are clean and in good condition; and
l) Any other responsibilities that may be assigned to the job holder by the supervisor from time to time.
