Key Responsibilities
As an Assistant Logistics & Services Procurement Manager, you will:
Day-to-Day Procurement Activities
- Market Engagement: Serve as the procurement lead for sourcing cost-effective and compliant solutions across multiple categories, including:
- Third-party warehousing & cold storage.
- Industrial real estate for self-managed sites.
- Operational expenditures (OPEX) and capital expenditures (CAPEX) for self-managed sites (e.g., material handling equipment, racking, labor, security services).
- Middle and final-mile distribution services.
- Container depots & related services.
- First-mile landside transport (road, rail, barge).
- Customs House Brokerage services.
- Market Testing: Facilitate RFIs, RFQs, and RFPs, ensuring robust go-to-market execution and analysis.
- Contract Negotiation: Negotiate supplier contracts and pricing, ensuring optimal value and quality.
- Vendor Management: Address vendor or contractor grievances and maintain strong supplier relationships.
Procurement Category Strategy
- Execute procurement strategies aligned with organizational goals and product offerings.
- Use market intelligence, spend analysis, and supplier insights to drive cost savings and strategic decision-making.
Sourcing Strategy
- Design and implement sourcing strategies based on supply chain principles and market dynamics.
Customer Tenders
- Collaborate with Product and Sales teams to provide timely procurement inputs for customer tenders.
Global Processes & Teams
- Leverage global procurement tools, category management teams, and contract frameworks to ensure compliance, cost leadership, and high supplier performance.
Implementation Partner
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, adopting best practices and driving change management processes.
Travel
- Travel within the Eastern Africa Area for site visits and supplier engagements as required.

Essential Skills and Experience
- A minimum of 2 years’ procurement experience, preferably in logistics or related sectors.
- Proven ability to execute end-to-end sourcing projects and cost reduction initiatives.
- Strong project management and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication, planning, and prioritization abilities.
- General knowledge of finance and accounting principles.
