Job Objective

As an HR Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing HR functions, supporting various departments, and ensuring an exceptional employee experience. Your role will be instrumental in shaping a productive and engaged workforce that aligns with the university’s objectives.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Staff Planning and Budgeting

  • Oversee staff planning, budgeting, and budget control to align with organizational goals.
  • Conduct job evaluation and analysis to ensure effective workforce management.

2. Recruitment and Onboarding

  • Manage recruitment and selection processes, including onboarding new employees.
  • Develop and implement strategies for talent acquisition and retention.

3. Talent Management and Succession Planning

  • Conduct talent reviews and succession planning to ensure future organizational readiness.
  • Analyze and monitor the performance of departmental objectives and SWOT analyses.

4. Learning and Development

  • Identify learning and development needs and implement relevant programs.
  • Facilitate training initiatives to enhance employee skills and capabilities.

5. Performance Management

  • Manage staff performance appraisals and recognition programs.
  • Provide constructive feedback and support to departments to optimize performance.

6. Employee Experience and Support

  • Make HR decisions that prioritize a positive employee experience.
  • Collect employee feedback and implement actionable changes.

7. Compliance and Policy Management

  • Coordinate and guide the implementation of staff disciplinary policies.
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws and organizational policies.

8. Employee Wellness and Events

  • Plan and implement employee wellness programs to enhance overall well-being.
  • Organize and manage staff events to foster team cohesion and morale.

9. Payroll Management

  • Oversee payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

10. Employee Separation

  • Manage employee separation processes, ensuring smooth transitions.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management from a recognized university.
  • Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) certification.
  • Up-to-date membership with the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM).
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in a university setting.
  • Working knowledge of labor laws and HR best practices.
  • Master’s degree in HR Management is an added advantage.
