Reporting to the Fixed Network Rollout Lead the position holder will be responsible for managing and coordinating the execution and delivery of implementation projects to the fixed network to achieve the best customer experience from Planning & Design Approval to as-built delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides preliminary technical vision, direction and delivery expectations before any Fixed project to the home build is initiated. 
  • Leads timely project delivery to meet Business needs and projected targets on Revenue; 
  • Identifies and manages all project Risks such as logistical, regulatory, Resourcing and Commercial; 
  • Prepares and issues regular/weekly project progress reports for timely and accurate project status and decision support information to stakeholders; 
  • Provides quality control of Safaricom Fixed projects at all Steps of implementation & acceptance in accordance with set standards; 
  • Guides and provides leadership to the Implementation delivery team 
  • Provides supplier management, and resolution of any community and 3rd party issues; 
  • Ensures adherence to OHS policies and stipulated code of Conduct by all suppliers; 
  • Oversees and manages Fixed network infrastructure (Aerial or Underground) build 
  • Monitors status of material issuance for build projects. 
  • Coordinates acquisition of ROW, access, utility easement information from Authorities & landlords and act as the Safaricom representative. 
  • Supports all contract transition activities including joint acceptance of the various distribution networks, hubs & sites. 
  • Initiates and drafts of the technical scope or requirements of new outsourced implementation services contracts. 
  • Continuously monitors and evaluates performance of all Implementation vendors activities against set KPIs and SLA whilst maintaining a weekly record and carrying out an analysis of the same.
  • Participates in regular Quality Assurance and Performance Audits of all partners in all regions over all technologies and solutions. 
  • Identifies key performance improvement requirements and timescales for delivery through continuous operational stakeholder meetings. 
  • Prudent manages the Safaricom Implementation Team of engineers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Electrical, Electronics, Civil, Telecommunication Engineering, IT or any technical related field. 
  • At least 4 years’ experience in a busy Telecommunications environment involved in Fibre Implementation – A bias towards Fiber To The X (FTTx) will be an added advantage. 
  • In-depth understanding of Transmission infrastructure deployment life cycle ·
  • Demonstratable Knowledge in Fiber transmission technologies i.e. o Active &Passive Optical Networks, GPON being the bare minimum. 
  • Inside & Outside Plant Engineering Techniques and engineering practices.
  • Project Planning & Management, Supplier Management, Contract management and Quality Assurance, OSHS.
