We are currently recruiting for the following position:


Position: Chief Executive Officer

Job Summary: The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will provide successful leadership in developing and executing St John Ambulance Kenya’s short, medium, and long-term strategies. This position requires a leader who can enhance the organization’s value through effective management, decision-making, and implementation of Executive Council directives. The CEO will be responsible for day-to-day operations and strategic oversight to achieve the organization’s mission and vision.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Leadership:
    • Lead the development and execution of short, medium, and long-term strategies to advance the organization’s mission.
    • Act as the primary spokesperson, ensuring the organization’s vision and goals are effectively communicated.
    • Implement Executive Council decisions and directives.
  2. Operational Management:
    • Oversee daily operations, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
    • Ensure robust policies and procedures are in place to enhance operational efficiency.
    • Maintain high standards of program delivery and organizational performance.
  3. Team Leadership:
    • Lead and inspire high-performing, multicultural teams.
    • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that promotes innovation.
    • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide professional development opportunities.
  4. Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including donors, government agencies, and community leaders.
    • Represent St John Ambulance Kenya in local, regional, and international forums.
  5. Fundraising and Business Development:
    • Drive fundraising initiatives to secure sustainable financial resources for the organization.
    • Build partnerships with external organizations to support program expansion and impact.
  6. Financial Oversight:
    • Ensure effective financial management and reporting systems.
    • Develop and manage the organization’s budget, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities.
    • Monitor financial performance and ensure transparency and accountability.
  7. Equity-Driven Leadership:
    • Promote a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion across all levels of the organization.
    • Navigate external and internal dynamics with cultural fluency and integrity.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Business, Social Sciences, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Social Science, or equivalent from a recognized university.
  • Minimum 15 years of work experience, including 7 years in managerial leadership roles.
  • Membership in a professional body in good standing.
  • Proven experience in senior leadership roles in the social impact or volunteer sector.
  • Strong background in fundraising, business development, and building external partnerships.
  • Demonstrated success in managing operations and leading high-performing teams.
  • Strong financial management and budgeting skills.

Terms of Service: This position is offered on a three-year contract, renewable once upon satisfactory performance.
