Job Description:
The TWG Electrician will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of electrical installations across the British High Commission estate in Nairobi and occasionally overseas. This position involves performing planned preventative maintenance, reactive maintenance, fault finding, and electrical design and construction, adhering to established standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance, electrical repairs, and installation work in a professional and customer-focused manner.
- Execute electrical projects safely and in compliance with British standards, Kenyan electrical regulations, and FCDO guidelines.
- Conduct fault finding, inspection, testing, and produce relevant certificates and condition reports upon completion of works.
- Collaborate with technical and non-technical colleagues to provide updates on work progress in understandable terms.
- Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to Health and Safety standards.
- Plan and estimate materials required for electrical refurbishments, renewals, and rewires.
- Supervise contractors where necessary to ensure compliance with standards.
- Actively contribute to achieving value for money and maintaining high safety compliance standards.
- Perform additional duties as required, such as working at heights and in outdoor environments.
Resources Managed:
- Supervision of contractors as needed.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Certificate in electrical installation from a recognized government institution.
- Minimum of three years of experience in electrical installation and maintenance.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge and experience in low voltage electrical installation inspection and testing.
- Competency in handling hand and power tools.
- Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record (accident-free for three years).
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- Familiarity with Health & Safety standards governing the electrician role.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
