We are searching for an experienced Consultancy – Sales and Marketing Expert at our Kenya facility.
Project Overview:
The Challenge Fund for Youth Employment (CFYE) is a 7-year and €134 million programme funded by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, that aims to create a prosperous future for 230,000 young women and men in the Middle East, North Africa, Sahel & West Africa and Horn of Africa regions.
The Fund will be supporting initiatives in 12 focus countries that will offer youth, in particular young women, opportunities for work that is demand-driven and productive, offering a stable income and safe working conditions, and that is contributing to their personal development and social protection.
The portfolio of projects is selected from business cases that were proposed by private sector, civil society and knowledge institutions. Each business case has outlined scalable solutions for creating more and better jobs and income generating opportunities for youth. Solutions in particular focus on an integrated approach that addresses the shortcomings on the demand side (jobs) and supply side (skills) and bridging the mismatch between these two in the labour market.
Delish & Nutri Ltd (D&N) Overview:
Delish & Nutri Ltd (D&N), derived from “delicious and nutritious,” is a Kenyan company located in Ruiru, a town 25 kilometers away from the capital city of Kenya, Nairobi. Assignment Overview:
D&N in partnership with CFYE are implementing a youth project dubbed as “Wezesha Vijana wetu na Karanga”. The project plans to scale up use of digital marketing tools and conservation agriculture to cultivate nutrient dense products for import substitution, creation of employments for youths and enhancement of health through an integrated supply chain for groundnuts and High Iron Beans using the Commodity Corridor Approach and digital technologies to push production and address constraints along the value chain.
D&N is at an exciting phase of growth, and they are looking to develop a comprehensive marketing strategy that will seek to build their market segmentation, distribution channels, developing effective marketing plans and strategies for the bottom of the pyramid (BOP) that they can people them to integrate youth entrepreneurs into their sales strategy to achieve both the job outcomes and commercial goals.
To achieve this goal, CFYE is looking to onboard an experienced sales and marketing expert based in Kenya to support D&N strengthen their marketing functions. The overall objective of the consultancy is to help D&N to strengthen their sales and marketing functions through developing and implementing strategies that will generate sales for the business; develop and implement marketing campaigns; develop and implement sales plans including identifying target clients and creating sales strategies based on their needs.
The consultant will report directly to the CFYE Country Lead and work closely, on a day-to-day basis with the D&N management team including the marketing department.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
– Support D&N management develop and implement marketing strategies to generate sales, reviewand revise existing D&N ’s sales and marketing plans, advising the management and promoting the company’s existing brands.
– In consultation with D&N staff, develop marketing structures, roles, processes, and forecasting plans for next two financial years to catalyze the company achieve its sales and marketing goals.
– Develop marketing drives\campaigns aimed at increasing visibility for D&N brands especially on the general trade.
– Conduct capacity sales and marketing gaps assessment and training to D&N sales team including merchandisers/distributors.
– Support D&N management in recruitment and training of new sales and marketing officers
– Document and discuss with the D&N management key recommendations, tips, or strategies for future improvements.
– Provide advisory on building and maintaining relationships with customers.
Deliverables:
– Inception report providing the proposed framework of support to D&N.
– Technical deliverables; Comprehensive D&N sales and marketing strategy.
– Strategy implementations support report (Some level of effort will be towards initial roll-out of strategy implementations).
– End of assignment report.
Level of Effort and Reporting:
Up to 21 days over a period of 3 months (1st March – 30th May 2025). The assignment is anticipated to start in March 2025.
Required Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in commerce, marketing, Business management or in any other related field is preferred
– Substantive experience working in marketing and business development.
– Demonstrated experience in designing marketing and sales strategies for different business models including digital marketing.
– Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships across teams and organisations.
– Experience working with small and growing companies (SGBs) operating in the informal sector is an added advantage.
– Demonstrated experience working in value chain development and especially in Kenya or Sub-Saharan Africa context will be an added advantage.
– Prior experience working as a marketing consultant in fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) will be an added advantage.

Core Competencies:
– Strong communication skills – an ability to clearly communicate (both written and oral) complex results to technical and non-technical audiences.
– Excellent attention to detail and ability to perform multiple tasks and balance competing priorities effectively and efficiently often within a required timeframe.
– Basic knowledge in office suit (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
– Strong business acumen.
