In accordance with the Constitution of Kenya (2010) and the County Government Act No. 17 of 2012, the County Government of Kakamega invites applications from qualified candidates to fill 32 vacant positions in the Department of Health Services.

Position: Data Clerks (Job Group ‘CPSB 12’/G)

  • Number of Positions: 32
  • Salary Scale: Kshs. 23,700 – 31,450 per month
  • Terms of Service: Three-year contract

Key Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of a Data Clerk is to ensure that information is accurately recorded, verified, and maintained. Duties include:

1. Data Entry and Processing

  • Enter data from paper forms, scanned documents, and other sources into designated computer systems.
  • Input and update customer information, financial transactions, and other key records.

2. Data Verification and Accuracy

  • Cross-check entered data against source documents to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Identify and correct errors in data entries to maintain high levels of integrity.

3. Data Formatting and Organization

  • Ensure all data is entered in the correct format using appropriate fields and codes.
  • Maintain organized digital files for easy retrieval and reference.

4. Database Management

  • Update databases regularly with new and corrected information.
  • Identify and resolve inconsistencies in records.

5. Administrative and Customer Support

  • Assist in file management and organization of both digital and physical records.
  • Communicate with relevant departments or individuals to update and verify information when necessary.

Required Skills and Competencies

Successful candidates must demonstrate the following skills:

  • Strong typing speed and accuracy for efficient data entry.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to identify and correct errors.
  • Proficiency in data entry software, including spreadsheets and databases.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
  • Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office programs such as Excel and Word.
  • Good communication skills, especially in retrieving and updating information.

Minimum Requirements for Appointment

To be considered for this role, applicants must have:

  1. Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a minimum grade of C Minus (-) or an equivalent qualification.
  2. Proficiency in computer applications, demonstrated by experience or certification.
