Role Summary
The Entomology Technician will assist in monitoring and analyzing mosquito populations and other vectors to support the project’s health-related objectives. This role involves fieldwork, sample collection, and collaboration with the research team to provide actionable insights.
Responsibilities
1. Set up and maintain mosquito traps and other vector surveillance tools.
2. Collect and document samples from field sites, ensuring proper labeling and storage.
3. Conduct preliminary analysis of vector samples under laboratory conditions.
4. Maintain accurate and detailed records of entomological data.
5. Collaborate with the Data Analyst to integrate entomological data into risk maps.
6. Support the development of protocols for vector monitoring and control.
7. Provide technical input during community workshops on vector-related risks.
8. Assist in training field staff on vector surveillance techniques.
9. Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.
10. Stay updated on advancements in entomology to enhance monitoring strategies.
11. Prepare technical reports and contribute to research publications.
12. Adhere to safety and ethical guidelines during all field and laboratory activities.
Qualifications
● Diploma in Entomology, Biology, or related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
● Experience in fieldwork and laboratory analysis.
● Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
