Currently, the bank is seeking to fill the position of Business Development Manager – Trade Finance.

Position: Business Development Manager – Trade Finance
Job Type: Three (3) year contract
Reporting to: Head of Corporate Banking

Job Purpose: The Business Development Manager – Trade Finance will play a crucial role in expanding and managing the bank’s trade finance portfolio. The role focuses on driving sustained business growth while meeting revenue targets. This will be achieved by formulating and implementing effective sales strategies, providing tailored international trade finance solutions, and enhancing the bank’s market presence to generate new sales opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Achieve Sales Targets: Meet and exceed set sales performance targets in trade finance, international banking services, and other capital financing products.
  • Sales Strategy Development: Formulate and execute robust sales strategies aimed at growing trade finance and international business.
  • Customized Solutions: Develop tailored international trade finance solutions that enhance profitability on international business transactions.
  • Business Promotion: Enhance the bank’s trade finance profiles both internally and externally to attract new sales opportunities and promote business.
  • Customer-Centric Solutions: Provide solutions that meet customers’ financial needs while ensuring adherence to the regulatory framework and bank’s credit policies.
  • Product Improvement: Recommend product enhancements in trade finance and international business services to ensure the bank remains competitive in the market.
  • Utilize Trade Finance Facilities: Ensure maximum utilization of trade finance facilities and drive the origination of new trade finance deals or repeat business from clients.
  • Market Intelligence: Conduct research and share relevant market intelligence with business units to ensure opportunities are capitalized on, and risks are mitigated.
  • Service Delivery Improvement: Collaborate with various units to improve customer service delivery, enhancing overall customer experience.

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a business-related field.
  • Professional banking qualifications such as AKIB, ACIB, or Trade Finance certification is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years working experience in banking, with at least five (5) years in Trade Finance and international business.
  • Strong knowledge of trade finance products, import/export finance, and commodity finance.
  • Excellent credit risk management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to generate new business and foster lasting business relationships.
