Victory Farms (VF) is seeking a Legal Assistant to join our Corporate Affairs team. Job Overview
The Legal Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the legal department through research, compliance monitoring, document management, and administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to work independently while coordinating with multiple teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Legal Research & Compliance
- Conduct legal research using platforms such as kenyalaw.org.
- Assist in interpreting laws, regulations, and legal precedents.
- Stay updated on regulatory changes and inform relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure adherence to corporate compliance policies.
2. Document Drafting & Review
- Assist in drafting and reviewing legal documents, including contracts, MOUs, leases, and agreements.
- Prepare internal and external briefs, memos, and reports.
- Collaborate with different departments to ensure accuracy and compliance in legal documents.
3. Legal Audit & Reporting
- Maintain and report on departmental costs and compliance activities.
- Prepare compliance reports and maintain records of leases and permits.
- Coordinate with other departments to track legal contracts, agreements, and documentation gaps.
4. Document & Archive Management
- Organize and manage legal documents, contracts, and agreements using web-based tools.
- Monitor and track contract expirations, renewals, and modifications.
- Handle digital and paper records efficiently to ensure accessibility and compliance.
5. Administrative Support
- Provide administrative support, including processing permits, licenses, and immigration applications.
- Manage employee inquiries related to corporate legal matters.
- Prepare presentations and reports for internal use.
Skills & Qualifications
- Diploma in Legal Studies/Paralegal or a related field.
- Experience in a legal assistant role is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of legal procedures and regulations.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to multi-task and manage projects effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
