LWM is a well established international joint degree Masters’ programme, fully accredited in Austria, The Netherlands and Kenya. The programme structure/curriculum consists of three semesters of 4-months each, which are held in Austria (University of Natural Resources & Life Sciences, Vienna – BOKU), The Netherlands (IHE Delft) and Kenya (Egerton University), followed by a 7 to 12-months research period at one of the three partnering institutions, or your home country. LWM students enjoy the complementing expertise of three renowned universities and excellent networking perspectives at global level. All three study locations are world-famous tourist locations – Vienna (Austria), Delft (The Netherlands) and Nakuru/Egerton (Kenya) – hence, LWM students have the added benefit to study where others are going for sight-seeing!
The LWM Master’s programme provides
- fundamental understanding of the structure and functioning of streams & rivers, wetlands, fishponds and lakes;
- expert skills to assess the ecological status of freshwater ecosystems, to plan & carry-out monitoring programmes and to develop suitable conservation & restoration measures; and
- professional skills to develop and apply methods & tools towards the sustainable management of freshwater ecosystems & its services, including fisheries & aquaculture.

Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (ITH)
The diploma program of the Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management in Salzburg, Austria offers modern tourism and hospitality knowledge for developing countries based on the principles of sustainability. Graduates should be able to help the tourism industry in their home countries to attract national and international guests and to create a stable income for people on all qualification levels.
Applicants should have already gained professional experience in tourism and now wish to acquire the typical know how that is needed
• to establish and manage a private tourism or hospitality SME as an entrepreneur
• to develop and market a successful tourism destination
• to become a trainer or teacher passing on the special knowledge gained in Austria and to qualify experts for the tourism industry in their home country
The diploma courses are conducted in two semesters, from 8th of September 2025 until
31st March 2026 and can be followed by an internship of max. three months in Austria.
