- Position: Senior Accountant – Costing (Internal Advert)

Job Purpose
The Senior Accountant – Costing will support financial management by handling critical functions such as program costing (including pricing), cost control, budget development, and providing essential financial data to support management’s strategic planning efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct benchmarking on all charges and make recommendations.
- Perform costing for new and existing programs.
- Analyze and monitor budget performance across all units and communicate variances with budget holders at least twice per semester.
- Make recommendations for improvements in areas of inefficiencies.
- Assess the levels of utilization of services and subscriptions, providing recommendations.
- Assist in consolidating the annual budget.
- Support the Manager, Management Accounts in preparing periodic management reports.
- Assist in the preparation of the draft consolidated annual budget for review.
- Allocate shared costs across budget units.
- Distribute overhead costs to departments, including telephone, electricity, staff costs, insurance, and transport expenses.
- Implement approved departmental budget transfers in accordance with university policies.
- Prepare draft financial models for proposed university capital projects for review.
- Manage the creation and approval of new GL codes, including opening and posting approvals.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned from time to time.
Educational/Professional Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance and CPA (K) / ACCA.
- Membership in good standing with the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK).
- Proficiency in computer applications.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working as an accountant in a busy finance department.
