Veterinary Medicines Directorate is a state corporation established under the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Paraprofessionals Act,2011and operationalized through the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary
Paraprofessionals (The Veterinary Medicines Directorate) Regulations, 2015.
It is mandated to regulate the manufacture, importation, exportation, registration, distribution, prescription, and dispensing of Veterinary Medicines and other animal health products in Kenya.
VMD invites applications from qualified persons for the following positions;

1. Office Assistant
The Office Assistant will be responsible for general office maintenance, ensuring cleanliness, and supporting day-to-day administrative tasks. Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain office cleanliness and hygiene
- Assist in photocopying, filing, and document delivery
- Prepare and serve refreshments during meetings
- Handle office errands and logistics support
2. Inspector
The Inspector will ensure compliance with veterinary medicines regulations through inspections and monitoring. Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular inspections of veterinary medicines premises
- Monitor compliance with regulatory guidelines
- Investigate complaints and ensure corrective actions are implemented
- Report violations and recommend enforcement measures
3. Assistant Inspector
The Assistant Inspector will support the Inspector in ensuring compliance with veterinary medicines regulations. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in carrying out field inspections
- Support the preparation of inspection reports
- Participate in awareness campaigns on regulatory compliance
- Assist in investigation and enforcement activities
4. Driver
The Driver will provide transport services for the organization while ensuring vehicle safety and maintenance. Key Responsibilities:
- Drive VMD vehicles as per assigned duties
- Ensure proper maintenance and cleanliness of the vehicle
- Adhere to traffic rules and VMD transport policies
- Maintain vehicle records and report any issues promptly
5. Accounts Assistant
The Accounts Assistant will support financial operations and maintain accurate financial records. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in processing payments and invoices
- Maintain financial records and reconciliations
- Support budget tracking and expenditure reports
- Assist in financial audits and compliance checks
6. ICT Officer
The ICT Officer will be responsible for managing the organization’s ICT infrastructure and ensuring system security. Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain IT systems and network security
- Provide technical support to staff
- Ensure data integrity and backup procedures
- Develop and update IT policies and procedures
7. Planning Officer
The Planning Officer will be responsible for developing strategic plans and monitoring their implementation. Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research and data analysis to inform planning
- Develop and track implementation of VMD strategic plans
- Prepare reports on organizational performance
- Coordinate stakeholder engagement in planning activities
8. Records Management Officer
The Records Management Officer will oversee the proper handling and storage of organizational records. Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and archive VMD documents and records
- Implement record-keeping best practices
- Ensure data security and confidentiality
- Facilitate document retrieval and information management
9. Human Resource Management Officer
The Human Resource Management Officer will handle employee relations, recruitment, and HR administration. Key Responsibilities:
- Implement HR policies and procedures
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and staff training
- Maintain employee records and performance management systems
- Handle staff welfare and disciplinary matters
10. Senior Internal Auditor
The Senior Internal Auditor will ensure compliance with financial and operational regulations through audits and risk assessments. Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct internal audits and risk assessments
- Develop and implement audit policies and procedures
- Ensure financial and operational compliance
- Provide recommendations for process improvements
11. Legal Officer
The Legal Officer will provide legal guidance to ensure VMD’s operations comply with regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advisory services
- Draft and review legal documents and contracts
- Represent VMD in legal matters and proceedings
- Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks
