To enhance our financial sustainability and resource mobilization efforts, we are seeking a highly motivated Assistant Director, Development & Investment to lead and manage fundraising activities, investment partnerships, and business development initiatives. This role will be instrumental in identifying investment opportunities, cultivating relationships with investors, and organizing fundraising efforts that align with KCA University’s strategic objectives.

The job holder will play a crucial role in securing funding through investment capital, philanthropic funds, and strategic partnerships, ensuring that KCA University continues to grow and thrive.


Key Responsibilities

Investment & Fundraising Strategy

  • Identify and research potential investment partners, including individual investors, venture capitalists, impact investors, and philanthropic organizations.
  • Develop compelling investment proposals, pitch decks, and business plans to attract investment capital for University programs, projects, and initiatives.
  • Analyze investment opportunities to assess their alignment with KCA University’s mission and financial objectives.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with investors and donors, providing regular updates, reports, and engagement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with programmatic and financial teams to ensure investment opportunities align with the University’s priorities and strategic goals.

Proposal & Grant Development

  • Oversee the preparation of funding proposals, grant applications, and fundraising materials.
  • Ensure proposals align with organizational objectives and donor interests, focusing on potential investment portfolios.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to optimize resource mobilization efforts.

Business Development & Strategic Partnerships

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities through networking, market outreach, and strategic partnerships.
  • Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of potential investors, donors, and funding institutions.
  • Represent the University at conferences, industry events, and networking functions to promote investment opportunities and fundraising initiatives.

Investment & Financial Management

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement investment strategies aligned with institutional goals.
  • Conduct due diligence and financial analysis to assess investment risks and returns.
  • Stay informed about fundraising and investment trends in the higher education and nonprofit sectors.
  • Analyze donor needs and preferences to inform product development and marketing strategies.
  • Develop financial reports and projections to inform investment decisions and risk mitigation strategies.

Donor & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, and investors through tailored engagement and recognition strategies.
  • Develop and implement investment strategies to deepen donor relations.
  • Prepare guidelines on maintaining and utilizing the donor database, ensuring compliance with data protection laws and best practices.
  • Facilitate compliance with fundraising regulations, ethical standards, and financial disclosure requirements.

Project Management & Compliance

  • Track and evaluate fundraising performance, revenue projections, and return on investment.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards in fundraising and investment activities.
  • Promote continuous learning and development for the resource mobilization team through professional training and skill enhancement programs.
  • Provide regular reports to stakeholders, demonstrating impact and transparency in fundraising initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Master’s degree from a recognized university.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Investment Management, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., CFRE) are an added advantage.
  • At least five (5) years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, communications, or related fields, with a focus on investment and donor engagement.

  • Strong understanding of fundraising principles, investment strategies, and event management best practices.
  • Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong financial acumen, with expertise in budgeting, financial analysis, and reporting.
  • Project management expertise, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Familiarity with fundraising tools, donor databases, and CRM systems.
  • Passion for the University’s mission and commitment to social impact.
