To support this goal, we are seeking a dynamic Assistant Director, Donor Engagement and Communications to lead fundraising initiatives, donor relations, and strategic communication efforts. This role will be instrumental in enhancing donor retention, engagement, and revenue generation through targeted fundraising campaigns and event-driven initiatives.
The successful candidate will play a key role in developing donor engagement strategies, overseeing communication efforts, and ensuring alignment between fundraising goals and institutional objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Donor Engagement & Relationship Management
- Develop and implement comprehensive donor engagement strategies to build relationships with individual donors, major donors, corporate sponsors, foundations, and philanthropic funds.
- Identify opportunities for personalized donor interactions, ensuring satisfaction and long-term engagement.
- Establish donor recognition and stewardship programs, including acknowledgment letters, donor appreciation events, and impact reporting.
- Serve as the primary contact for donor inquiries, feedback, and relationship management, ensuring exceptional customer service and responsiveness.
Donor Communications & Marketing
- Oversee the development and execution of donor communication plans, including email campaigns, newsletters, fundraising appeals, and impact reports.
- Create compelling content that showcases KCA University’s impact, achievements, and funding needs.
- Work closely with the communications and marketing teams to align donor messaging across various platforms.
- Develop customized communication strategies to enhance donor engagement and retention.
Fundraising Events & Campaigns
- Plan, coordinate, and execute fundraising events to generate revenue for KCA University’s programs.
- Develop event concepts, themes, and agendas aligned with fundraising objectives.
- Secure event sponsorships, donations, and in-kind support from corporate and philanthropic partners.
- Manage event logistics, including venue selection, vendor contracts, budgeting, and attendee coordination.
- Oversee event marketing and promotional efforts to maximize participation and fundraising outcomes.
Donor Data Management & Analytics
- Oversee the maintenance and utilization of the donor database, ensuring accurate tracking of donor interactions, preferences, and giving history.
- Ensure compliance with data protection regulations, including donor privacy and confidentiality.
- Leverage data insights to segment donors, optimize fundraising strategies, and develop targeted engagement plans.
- Monitor fundraising performance metrics, prepare regular reports and analysis, and refine engagement strategies based on insights.
Strategic Planning & Collaboration
- Collaborate with the resource mobilization team to develop investment proposals and donor funding strategies.
- Align fundraising campaigns with the University’s priorities and strategic objectives.
- Stay updated on trends in donor engagement, fundraising innovations, and best practices within the nonprofit sector.
- Provide regular reports on donor engagement metrics and revenue projections for internal and external stakeholders.
Regulatory Compliance & Ethical Fundraising
- Ensure compliance with fundraising regulations, financial reporting requirements, and ethical standards.
- Maintain transparency and accountability in fundraising activities and donor communications.
- Implement best practices in donor stewardship and financial disclosure policies.
Qualifications and Experience
- Master’s degree from an accredited university.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communication, Marketing, or a relevant field.
- Professional certification (e.g., CFRE) is an added advantage.
- At least five (5) years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, communications, or a related field with a strong focus on donor engagement.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong relationship-building and donor stewardship abilities.
- Proficiency in donor database management, CRM systems, and data analytics.

- Knowledge of fundraising tools, donor platforms, and digital engagement technologies.
