Job Description
The Asset Manager will oversee daily operations for LDC Kenya’s Milling and Warehouse functions, ensuring coffee is received, processed, stored, and shipped in accordance with industry standards. The role requires effective team leadership and operational oversight to drive efficiency and performance.
Responsibilities:
Coffee Milling Operations
- Provide leadership and guidance in formulating and implementing policies and procedures.
- Develop and optimize business processes to meet strategic objectives.
- Coordinate with purchasing for timely raw material deliveries.
- Manage the Coffee Milling plant, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
- Supervise production schedules and warehouse operations.
- Participate in annual budget planning for OPEX and CAPEX.
- Control costs and ensure efficient production.
- Oversee coffee processing, inventory management, and risk control.
- Monitor coffee production and export processes, making necessary adjustments.
Warehousing Roles
- Implement effective warehouse and inventory monitoring systems.
- Maintain FIFO (First-In-First-Out) methods for materials and coffee milling.
- Ensure proper loading, unloading, and storage to maintain quality and prevent losses.
- Execute coffee processing instructions and manage inventory records.
- Coordinate procurement and warehousing of coffee materials.
- Manage external rented warehouses and packaging planning.
Team Management
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives for operational excellence.
- Monitor performance metrics and optimize resources.
- Develop strong cross-departmental relationships with Trade, Logistics, Quality, and HR.
- Implement HR policies, staff motivation, and performance reviews.
- Identify training needs and career development plans for the team.
Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Engineering, KEBS, ISO, and LDC SHE standards.
- Maintain a strong safety culture within the production team.
- Plan and implement SHE initiatives and monthly KPI tracking.
- Adhere to OHSA, LDC safety procedures, and legal requirements.
Food Safety Responsibilities
- Communicate food safety requirements as per company policies.
- Ensure compliance with Food Safety Management Systems.
- Participate in internal and external food safety audits.
- Engage in food fraud prevention and defense activities.
Experience, Skills, and Qualifications
- 10 years’ managerial experience in the Coffee Milling Industry.
- Strong knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations.
- Proactive with problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Experience with Management Information Systems.
- Strong interpersonal skills and organizational awareness.
